Q:

Bad Black guns….

I see often on the Yellow and other forums where that people look down upon the ‘tactical’ look of the AF guns. Folks have even gone as far as to make their AF gun look like a toy so as to not look so threatening.

Is this what we have been reduced to? We now WANT our guns to look like toys so we dont alarm our politically correct, neutered neighbors?

Perhaps it’s because I live in the country…. I dont know. It’s not uncommon to see a young boy walking down the road with a rifle and a groundhog he’s shot… or to see a gun rack in a truck…. with guns in it.

It’s sad to me that this country has gotten so afraid of guns that we are reduced to wanting guns that dont look ‘mean’….. fuck, maybe the next big thing with AF will be the Barbie Edition Talon. I bet those will sell like crack cocaine.

Am I the only one bothered by this?

Rob, when I first saw those handguns with pink colored grips in the shops (about 2-3 years ago), my thought was wtf ??? Then I was told that they get more ladies into thinking about buying defensive handguns. When I heard that, it was cool with me. I don’t give it a second thought from then on because anything that can increase gun ownership is a OK with me. If we want shooting sports to remain healthy, attracting more girls into the sport should be part of the strategy.

The biggest problem I have is with existing gun owners who look down on the black rifle because it hurts their sense of astheticse or worst, sense of tradition. The last part mainly comes from hunters who only see the black rifle as an “assault” rifle and has no place in the fields. They forgot that whatever they are hunting with today can all be traced back to one form of military hardware or another.

I see frequent comments about the asthetics of the AF rifles on other forums mostly from people that think the only good looking gun is one that has blued steel and walnut. They are the “traditionists” I guess where as I value function over form all the time. But how do you argue “tastes”?

NC is an open carry state and I see more and more folks wearing a pistol.

But there is a law about “going armed to the terror of the public”

When I go on a service call a 2am, you better believe I open carry !!!
Nothing like a big pistol on your belt to make someone think twice.

Maybe this is what your signature should say.

“Balls!” Cried the Yuppie
“If I had two, I’d be like my GRANDFATHER!”

Times, they are a changin!
