Q:

Ballistic calculation in windy condition

Hello, it is getting Christmas season and how everybody doing?

I am struggling to get some ducks for Christmas in windy condition with my Matador .25 long and let me ask you question on ballistic calculation.

I recently purchased Strelok, and trying to figure out how to calculate elevation at following condition for example.

Rifle zero at 100m in no wind condition

Hunting at 100m in 5m/s headwind condition

If I put wind condition, zero condition seemed to change accordingly, and I get zero elevation hold over.

Thank you for your help.

A chrono is a good investment for this hobby.

No I don’t have a chrony . I asked on this forum for the BC g1 for strelok free version . But now I bought strelok pro and using GA . I think it’s still the same number.

I’ve just bought the gun directly from the manufacturer as we don’t have their supplier in Malta Europe

Welcome!
How you get that BC? Tested yourself?
Btw how’s your gun performing? Is it the latest version?

Thank you. It looks far more ideal for my situation

For a far zero of 100 yards , I’m getting a near zero of only 8 yards . I have still not calculated the scope height of the hawke sidewinder on the vulcan. How do you get near 50 and 100 far zero as keyzer said ? Thanks

Ok, with the data you’ve see the below zero settings (Optimum zero by Chair Gun). With the 46 Yrd Zero, you will get approx. 12 to 52 PBR for a killzone of 1 inch.

For me this would be more convenient..

Vulcan .22 – 31 FPE – 935 fps – Air arms 16 grain 5.52 head size

Yes but I’ve read all keyser posts 🙂 ( total of =62 pages ) and if I remember well he said for high end rifles he doesn’t even think for a sub 50 yard zero . It’s more of 70-100 yard

I am sure he is right. What is your rifle, caliber and fps/fpe, pellet? if you don’t mind

I said with an Air Rifle. For ex. I’ve set mine at 40 yards and I have 20 to 45 PBR just point n shoot.
Yes, it depends on personal preference

Zero can be what ever you want it to be. I have a buddy who likes hold under and he zeroed his rifle at 100. It’s whatever makes you comfortable. My suggestion is try it. You can always change it. Don’t forget you could have 2 zeros one at 50 and one at 100. Just Mark the turret for each zero.

Thanks Keyser . Do you recommend going for a 100 yard zero for my vulcan .22 with this scope ? as I want to take advantage of the holdunder

A 40~50 yard zero would be much more realistic.

20X goes in that box

Sorry I did not explain correctly . What is ranging magnification ( power that this reticle was calibrated for ) for strelok pro ?

My scope is hawke sidewinder 30 tac 6.5 – 20 X 42
