Q:

Ballistic calculation in windy condition

Hello, it is getting Christmas season and how everybody doing?

I am struggling to get some ducks for Christmas in windy condition with my Matador .25 long and let me ask you question on ballistic calculation.

I recently purchased Strelok, and trying to figure out how to calculate elevation at following condition for example.

Rifle zero at 100m in no wind condition

Hunting at 100m in 5m/s headwind condition

If I put wind condition, zero condition seemed to change accordingly, and I get zero elevation hold over.

Thank you for your help.

You have the 1/2 mil dot reticle? If so it is set at 20x with the values 2x at 10x. So in other words at 20x every dot is a mil (3.6 inches at 100 yards) and at 10x every other dot is a mil.

What is ranging magnification ( power that this reticle was calibrated for ) ?

My scope is hawke sidewinder 30 tac 6.5 – 20 X 42

Thank you

Thank you MEROU! Please also check my trick above.
I wished I could calculate as precisely as possible, as wind in Japan is getting stronger.

Your writing is impressive.

Change your zero to 50 meters then strelok can adjust for head wind.

Thank you Keyser. The issue was that if I set the zero to 50m, and input head wind, it means that I have zeroed my gun at 50m in that head wind, and calculating holdover at other distance. If I changed the wind, zero condition changes automatically. This was not what I wanted.

If you calculate holdover for 50m, any headwind, you will see the Vert Value is always zero.

I found some trick.

I set the scope hight: 6cm,
Zero distance:0m
Zero offset Vertical:13.94

In this case, I get zero at 50m in no wind condition.
If I put headwind, I get hold over value, also for 50m.

Please try, if that interests you. Thank you.

Marco.

No wind 100 meters

Wind at 5 MPS at 100 MPS

MOA or mrad?

The reticle is mrad, and the turret is MOA.

Marco are you using the GA drag profile?

Yes, GA profile and BC of 0.036. Hold over value is correct for no wind condition.
