Barrel Bushings

Made some new bushings today. Old ones were to loose. They measured 1.010″ and new ones are 1.014″. Also made the back one .050″ bigger and put a o ring in it to stop the air from pushing the power wheel towards the breech. Also added a second set screw to it. I noticed the barrel had moved when I removed the old bushings.

You mention that your barrel had shifted.

Was actually wondering the other day how the barrel was prevented from shifting in the bushings.

Apparently the grub screws aren’t recessed into the barrel at all??

Have any more pictures of those bushings you’d be willing to share? Bushings look very good BTW. 😎

I can sell them but I would need to know what size your frame is. There is a lot of different sizes on the ID of the frames. I have a gun that is 1.010″ and have worked on a gun that was 1.016″. So if you can measure the ID of the tip of your gun I can make you a set.

I had the auction on the forsale site of this forum for a set of bushings that had O-rings inside and out… No one seemed to think much about them… I thought they were way cool bushings and figured as well as, hoped they would fetch the TAG more money to fight the spammers than they did LOL…

If I had only knew they would have only brought the amount of money they did, I would have never sold them and put something else up for auction… Heck I had never seen anyone with bushings like this here and figured how cool they were, they would have sold for better money than they brought…

Its a great idea though and they work plenty good enough. Just use the viton O-Rings is all I would say, on these bushings. Good stuff Doug

Very nice work there. It occurs to me that the bushings are probably critical to accuracy. One thing I would toss out for you to consider is putting an oring on the front bushing as well.

I have a .62 smoothbore that takes a .32 insert that is positioned with bushings that have orings front and back. It is probably the most accurate gun I’ve ever shot with multiple sub half MOA groups at 100 yards and a 200 yard ground hog kill to it’s credit. I believe the barrel mounting is part of the reason for the accuracy. The barrel is allowed its natural harmonics in a damped configuration. The barrel is controlled but the soft contact points don’t kill a vibration wave, just damp it down.

That’s my theory anyhow…
