Barrel length
I’m not sure where to post this question, but since I frequent the Bullpup section I thought I would post it here. My question is would a 13 inch LW barrel be just as accurate as an 18 inch LW barrel? I understand the part about loosing some velocity with a shorter barrel, but just wondering if I would loose any accuracy from missing several inches.
Here’s where I’m coming from. I ordered a few of the free FX/LW barrels from AOA [http://www.airgunsofarizona.com/FXBarrelPromo.html]. Just had to check them out, can’t really beat free right? At the time I didn’t realize how short they were until after I pressed the order button. Well, just got them this week and the .22 barrel OD measures .472, so they would fit into a Marauder breech. It would probably be an improvement over the stock marauder .22 barrel given that its an LW barrel. What are your thoughts? When time permits I will probably machine one to replace the stock barrel to see what the result would be, just don’t know when I would get the time to make that happen; too many projects, too little time.

Yes,,,this house is bigger than my old one,,,the old one was an 90 m2 apartment …not house ,,, and thank for God this one is an independent house ,,, and 200 m2 …
the tanks on the tops are only for storing water not heating ,,, he we have boiler for heating water inside the house ,,, we get water from the big deep well and they pump it to us ,,, and we store it in the tanks ..
usually we have no too much trees because it is a new project and people just start moving to stay there ,,,, i have plant few trees ,,,and more in the future God Willing ,,
i would like to see some pics of your area in this season ,plz,,if possible,,, i really like it …

the reason that you lost about 10 shots is because you cut your barrel,,,which means your barrel is shorter than factory barrel ,,,which means that you need more air to reach 900 FPS because usually the air efficiency/ power has more room in the longer barrels to work on the pellets/bullets than short barrels,,, so,,,you definitely need more air/power in your new short barrel ,,which means that you loose more air,,and this is the reason that you lost about 10 shots with the new barrel…
my Edgun long version has 59cm barrel 388cc tank,,,which i easily able to get 100 powerful shots at average of 920+ ,,, and still i can get 10 more useful shots ,,, ,,,
:tag: Sanoky. Lets see some pictures of your gun when finished. I had a .22 M-rod and changed the stock barrel to a LW barrel and found it didn’t shoot any better than the stock barrel, boy was I disappointed. I tried everything I could think of and then some to get that gun to shoot. Finally sold it and went with a FX Bobcat and a Cricket both in .22.

it wont loose accuracy but it will loose efficiency, i got a fx gladiator gen 1, since i find it quite long, i cut the barrel in the chamber area,cause i dont want to loose the choke at the front, i think from 19.5″ i cut it to square 16″, accuracy is the same and i only loose roughly 10 shot compare to the stock length, now it can shoot jsb jumbo 15.8grains at an average of 900fps, for only 100 shots, for my other the fx revo, i also plan to cut it out but the complicated assembly is making me think twice,,, :biggrinn:
Hemn, thanks for sharing your pictures with all of us. Is this house bigger than your last one? And are those tanks on top of the houses used to store and heat water? Very open area and not many trees I see. Your new home looks very nice indeed.

here is my new house, that still i am not finished with the preparation … due to not been free,,,there are lots of finishing to be done,,,inside and outside,,,,(and whenever i will be free ,,i will target practicing and shooting “really selfish” 😯 ,, :rofl: and so many times had fight with my wife ,,,she told me HEMN why you didn’t finish this?? ha?? wasn’t finishing this better than shooting??? :rofl: ) ,,this house made by a privet company and it is a compound ,,, which become a common currently in Iraq,,, and the payment will be like sort term installation or long term installation,,, ours was sort,,which means you have to pay the full amount until the company will deliver you the keys of your house ,,, the total cost was $80,000 … it is 200 square meters,,,,,there are three bed rooms, hall, kitchen and guest room ,,, the garage that my Kia shown in …and a small garden beside,,, which is very very good for me, my wife and my lovely twins,,, but i spent so much after receiving it,,, as you know if you don’t do anything yourself ,,,then you will not like it ,,,( like Ed said,,,there is a Russian proverb,,, if some one wants to do something in a good way,,,he should do it himself) …

here you can find my shooting areas ,…i can shoot even beyond 200 mtrs… each electricity column that appeared in the pics with the wires are a good point of shootings and i recorded the distances … so,,regarding the distances i almost become a familiar…. and each walls and those unfinished houses are a good situation for me again,,, the owner has suicided because he bankrupted .. 😥
this is the west side of my house again another compound project that has been stopped ,,, because the owner is bankrupted ,,but this one didn’t suicide …fortunately.. 😀
if you look at the walls carefully you will find more groups that i did,,, all of them are 5 shot group or 10 shot group,,, it is 69 mtr away from my shooting point … and i sight in my scope at 69 mtrs then start shooting… i have a good groups ,,, but some of them opened because of breaking the concert …

I sold my SEBEN scope mount to a friend. ..otherwise I would record the shooting. .. in fact since I moved to my new home…and having a good shooting areas. ..i never killed any sparrow…doves…or anything under 60 mtrs…..even..now i am shooting sparrow and doves beyond 70 mtrs ….or more….up to 200 mtrs…but never killed beyond 156 mtrs….
Wind doesn’t let me relax. …always blowing. …and the wind in my country is not stable

Few days ago,,,i got a new record …. LOL….i killed a dove at 156 mtrs with my Edgun,,,, that was really amazing,,,this is my longest kill yet…
same day,,,,another dove at 133mtrs … LOL… i wish i had a scope cam to record all …
I have killed three Doves @ 125 mtrs / 115 mtrs and 110 mtrs with my Edgun ,,,,
and two head shots with my Benjamin @ 110 mtrs two wild birds after each other …. and one head shot @ 97 mtrs with my Edgun same type of wild bird …

You may be correct Pippo. Its really hard to say why people believe barrel length is what determines accuracy but that sounds like a good assumption.
Now that was using a 12″ barrel with a Predator pellet. 😯 I regularly shoot sparrows (and sparrows are small) with Kings on a dead tree at 105 yards. My farthest shot was over 120 yards with my Air Ranger .25. Most of the long shots were on pigeons on the tops of buildings at farms and several off of lines. :4: My brother and I shot eggs at about 175 yards from a bench rest on his farm when they wind was calm. Just not using Predators with 12″ barrels. :biggrinn:

Congratulations on the new house Hemn – I just saw these pictures. I think it is a nice place with lots of room inside. It also looks well fortified. Do you expect any trouble wandering in?
What were those buildings for that you shoot at?
