BBL removal = POI Loss??
I purchased a couple of used Talons a couple of weeks ago and I had yesterday off so I decided to open them up and clean everything. To make a long story short, I removed the barrels, cleaned them and reinstalled them with no issues. But when I went to shoot them, both were shooting extremely low, even after setting the power adjustment to where they were.
What happened there?

Whatever dude… 🙄
Can’t find the article I read but I guess your speculation is justification for your so called facts… 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄
Next your going to argue that you can drill holes in pressure tubes or something… 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 And since there are no documented explosions it’s ok… 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 (It doesn’t work, i’ve tried…) 😆
Hey Lama, I said I was sorry about that! New Mexico still has not forgiven me…
Nobody was hurt, he surmised, what was in the tank before was not documented, “Many people have taken to the practice of dropping paintgun oil into the fill nipple of their compressed air system, especially in the hopes of sealing a leaky fill nipple” (and yet not many explosions have been noted)….
Note that I do not recommend putting oil in the tank.
“Oil the pellets and only clean if something goes wrong… Make sure the oil is pcp approved or else, boom!” Found any evidence of non pcp approved oil on a pellet causing a “boom” yet? Found any pcp approved oil?
You suggested that oil (non pcp approved) could cause an explosion if applied to pellets. Unless the “boom!” in your post meant something else, you spread a silly caution over a non danger.
Everyone knows:

Try this out, next time you fill put about 20 drops into your filling probe and then fill your tank from empty, I’ll tell you if I can hear the boom from here… 😆
I know you probably think i’m full of shit and nothing has happened to warrant my warning but a paintballer lost an arm from putting oil into the probe and HPA bottle while filling.
Sure it didn’t take out the town (your idea not mine) but he got really fucked up.
These guys are probably full of shit too… This incident was without injury, i’m still looking for the fucked up arm photos…

By your reasoning this could not have happened…
Yet it did…
🙄
Oh, anyone interested might want to look up NASA’s spec for oil contamination in high pressure pure O2 systems. It is not zero.
There are some actual scientific research papers on the net that cover high pressure O2 systems. The ones I read dealt mainly with oring/gasket materials but also covered contamination. While burning was able to be generated pretty easily with the wrong orings, explosions were not caused by even excessive contamination. Oil would tend to burn at a flow disturbance but everyone survived. That was in pure O2. HPA is not nearly as volatile.
Yes, the panic or gross over-estimation of the danger is unwarranted. Don’t put the oil inside the airtank and you’ll be fine. You can lube your pellets with oil, pellgun oil, or just about anything you find.
I don’t recommend this but if you pour half a cup of 30 weight into your tank, you will have a hell of a time igniting it. Maybe set up a remote actuated dump valve from a scuba tank and shake the air tank real good before running off to actuate the valve.
It is amazing that engine makers need high pressure fuel systems to atomize diesel fuel and then inject it just as very rapid compression has heated the air beyond the auto ignition temperature but airgunners (that someone heard of somewhere) only need a speck of pellgun oil somewhere on their gun to create a cataclysmic explosion.
Since oil near a PCP is sure to wipe out a town somewhere, maybe the best way to spread bullshit is to fill your paintball tank or PCP tank with pure oxygen. Then pretend that you did everything just as you should have. Post the pictures on the internet and get a bunch of folks to chime in with their considered opinions and spread the word.
Well, as I remember, webley accupel (Crossman premier) contain some steel.
I saw this after leaving some outside and the was visible rust. Im not sure that it would affect the lifetime of your barrel but it is something to think about 😛
Dave
I have no opinion on this, don’t flame me… Here’s the detailed post by Tom on the subject of Pellgun Oil in PCP that may have led to the change in position by Crosman and others on the topic. And then read the comments by the readers, very interesting

Then, my friend called me back to say he had tried to ignite Pellgunoil, and it did. So, it is flammable, and probably petroleum-based, at the very least.
😕 Here is a Crosman add for Pelgunoil, it’s also a pellet lube…
Guess they’re causing artificial panic as well??
Putting oil on pellets is not remotely going to lead to an explosion and there is no reason to spread fear.
Graphite? From lead? 😕
Oil the pellets and only clean if something goes wrong… Make sure the oil is pcp approved or else, boom!
Stop with the PCP approved BS, there is no such thing and there is no danger of exploding anything here…
Not to be too harsh but the myth of exploding stuff with airguns is just that, a myth. Take plain oil and swab the barrel to get it wet and fire your gun as hot as you can set it and the most you’l get is a bit of smoke in the barrel. Unless you die in the fireball but you won’t be around to argue then…
😕 I know oiling your fittings with petroleum based products can cause dieseling and problems, WOK posted the article from a paintball facility… Someone lost some fingers I think… I think the pressures were lower than HPA and there was an incident with TG where he stood by an oil in a pcp that was potentially problematic, he made a withdrawl I believe…
I really don’t know for sure but thought I heard it was dangerous and was just passing the information along… 😕 I kind of figured the pellet oil thing was overboard but better safe than sorry with 3000psi next to my face… 😉
It’s your face YMMV… 😆 😆 😆
Kinda the opposite of Tiger Woods…. 😯
my barrel has divits cut into it were the bushings tighten to it

My gun shoots great without jacking around with oiling anything. If it ain’t broken; don’t fix it! 😀 😀 😀 😀
