Q:

BBL removal = POI Loss??

I purchased a couple of used Talons a couple of weeks ago and I had yesterday off so I decided to open them up and clean everything. To make a long story short, I removed the barrels, cleaned them and reinstalled them with no issues. But when I went to shoot them, both were shooting extremely low, even after setting the power adjustment to where they were.

What happened there?

Talon/Talon SS

I was fixin ta say about the same thing crowpoper, after you clean it it goes to hell for a while.

Oh hell benneeb0y,, We like to share in Texas, Yall come back now. 😉

Yeah I can tell!!! 😆

X2 on cleaning.

The Talon SS should be good without a clean. The pellets will deposit graphite in the barrel and keep it protected. If the crown is damaged or has some cleaning fibers left behind then that might cause a problem. You should be able to see it looking down the barrel from breech side. The crown is recessed so you won’t be able to access it from the muzzle.

I have a PB 17HMR rifle that after cleaning requires 50 rounds to start tightening up. Now I just push a dry patch through to remove large gunk before storing.

I have a spring air gun that I only clean the barrel after I’ve burnt off the required 2 drops of compression chamber oil which I put in every 1500 or so rounds.

I put my barrel back in the same time each time. At best all I have to do is a minor adjustment to the scope, but I ALWAYS have to make that adjustment.

Don’t clean the barrel unless you have unsolvable poi issues, or its been filled with mud….. 😆

LOL… YOu said mud….. I am off to the post to ship your valve… The
weather is not fit for man nor beast but I am niether so I should be
fine,,,,lol

I mean I know everything is bigger in Texas but damn stop sending those storms up here!!!

Hmm…looking forward to my 30″ laminated cable barrel cleaner coming in. 🙂

Not many of us ever clean our barrels… I have thousands of shots
through all of my guns and they are more accurate now than when they
were new…

Mischief, the barrels don’t always go back in exactly as they were
before…. Understand that .001″ difference at the muzzle can make a
huge difference down range…. I had to re-zero my scopes every time I
removed and replaced my barrels… It is just part of the deal….
