Been lurking on the Benchrest forums….
something’s come to mind. other than the Lothar Walther barrels, what other barrels are out there for .25? ive seen some of the benchrest guys using Benchmark barrels, Krieger barrels… ive posted questions to them, no replies yet though. Nobody’s given up any specs. Has anyone used/tested any other brands other than Lothar Walther? I’ve not seen enough good info about the Smooth Twist to warrant spending the dough, or seen a solid supplier of HW barrels to count them either. I’m only looking to push the standard pellets out there, around 50fpe, and maybe apply what i learn from these questions to my project condor set up for Jerry’s slugs…

i got a damm near perfect bsa from his holiness(drum) this xmas.
i understand distribution is a bitch now thanks to gamos acquisition, but drum can do em last i checked.
and, like said, i think dave424 can get blanks(drum WONT do blanks).
now it begs the question: how good are the HW barrels, do they come in .25? or do they use LW too?? and im pretty sure that BSA blanks are done…i believe leupy made that announcement back while i was still in Afghan…that’s almost 3 years now. plus, BSA barrels were always hard to come by! I’ve heard that Cz’s barrels were good- but they’re crazy expensive, and their minimum to buy is two…so thats like 4-500 bucks at least. probably more. does Tim use HW barrels on his USFT? i remember a youtube post w/the USFT Hunter, and he showed a shot down the barrel, and it only had two grooves…that thing was crazy accurate too!! i’d love to know where he got his barrels for that!! i think it was a Benchmark barrel..i dunno. all i know is i want a really nice barrel that’s been moderately proven in .25. im tired of LW…i think its just because it’s pretty much what everyone has, and its become the norm…well i dont want norm, i want as close to perfect as possible!!! damn it!

Thanks to all you guys, for all the input- keep it coming!!! this is definatly something that i think others would benefit from as well, especially since alot of people are into the .25’s and airguning’s gaining alot more interest! the big barrel makers are starting to build barrels! Benchmark (.25), Lilja (.177). I know Tim is an airgun guru…but I didnt know he was into BR…i love this forum!! you got a contact for drum? now that i think about it leupy did say that getting one would be DIFFICULT for a while, since Gamo’s acquisition… I probably read that as no more BSA barrels ever. anyhoo, again, thanks guys- and keep the info comin! i really want to explore as many options as i can w/o going down the dark and expensive path of custom barrels based on math… Heaven forbid! oh- and Wok…awesome avatar!!
