Best way to hunt AT NIGHT!
For those of you that have a “night hunter” setup, what do you suggest? I want to be able to put a green or red laser on a ground hog or skunk’s head at 50yds…what should I look at? Will I need a flashlight fora light source or stick with laser only?

Right now, this is my setup:
Olight M20 Tactical light
Mounted with an offset weapon light mount
to a picatinny rail mounted forward on the left side of the stock.
This light is good to 250 yds with the polished bezel I swapped onto it – wonderfully straight throw.
I did a little target shooting last night and I can see my target bright and clear at 30 yds through a regular Hawke Airmax scope…even at 12x…plenty bright.
My understanding is that the green laser designator will light up a good distance as well…plus it doesn’t spook game.

I just saw another light like this one on American Airgunners but I can’t remember what it was called. XL300 rings a bell but I’m not sure. ANyone out there know what it was called?
If you want to use night vision then don’t use the green laser. Green lasers don’t show up well in NV frequencies. Blue won’t show up at all. Red is super bright in NV, so works well even with cheap 1st gen scopes. The best lasers for use with NV is IR, but IR is rather expensive since the US banned all US manufacturers from selling them (other than law enforcement and military). Also keep in mind that IR cannot be seen with the naked eye so must be used only in conjunction with NV, so your IR laser cannot do double duty with white light as an option, something that red lasers can easily do. I use IR with NV on serious guns, and cheapie crosman $15 red lasers (modified slightly) on plinking airguns.

How well does the green lazer work whith night vision scope?

I’m using the same light most times.
You don’t have to spend the money for the off set mounts though. Any 1″ high mount ring made for a air rifle rail will work. I have a bunch of them here. All in use! 😉
Just make sure you mount the light UNDER the shroud. Not by the scope like pictured. It causes white out in anything but dead dry air when using a powerful light. 😉 Having the light mounted under the gun instead of by the scope blocks the beam long enough to stop the stray light from interfering with the sight picture in anything but almost foggy conditions.

Iffy quality, and it DOES NOT like cold. May want to read and decide first.
on another forum ive read some iffy reviews on the ND3 it has some issues yet as its a relativly new product

i do quite a bit of predator night hunting
i use my fenix TA30
and my maglight with a red lens and my NV monocular for spoting i scan with the nightvision and once i spot something i view it until its within 100 or so yards and then i wait once i know its close i will spot it with the FENIX and or my 1 million CP spot light and shoot
as said it is much easier to hunt with a partner as its easier to spot the animals

Mischief; Look into an infra red lens for a high power (million) candle power spot light. Couple this with night vision goggles or night scope and you’ll be in business.
I showed this set up to a game warden (friend of mine) years ago and it scared hell out of him. I assured him I wasn’t a poacher, just a very successful predator. AKULA
Surefire for a gun mounted light. Two people one with a million something candle spot light at least is usually the best method. I find it hard to see far off with the red lenses. Four hands are better than two!

The M-20 is a great little light. I have one and use it a lot. I use the c-2 surefire on the AF .25. I fitted it with a aftermarket 225 lumen led. But the o-light is brighter. 😉 It’s just a waste to use it on the gun with it’s multi brightness settings.
