Q:

Bipod —> Is this the right Choice.

Have planning to buy a bipod and have been runing a search through all the past bipod topics in TAG.

I couldn’t find anyone white about the longer models of Harris Bipods : HB25C-S

http://cgi.ebay.com/HARRIS-RIFLE-BIPOD-S-25C-HINGED-MODEL-13-5-27-EXTEND_W0QQitemZ390159365477QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5ad74f7565

Kindly help me make the right choice.

I don’t do a lot of bench shooting….

Need this for long shots about 80 ~ ~ ~ 120 yards range (Varmints)

Kindly pen down your inputs if I am missing out something other than the swivel adapter to mount this setup.

Lost track of this post dude, sorry it took me so long to find my way back LOL…

Ya’ if you need to see what you think might work or not, or at the very least see how you might want to use a tri-pod dude, I got this sucker I bought used and fixed up somewhat for a look see…

Send me your address in a PM, and I will see about boxing this sucker up and get it headed your direction!!!

Its not anything fancy when this thing was new LOL, let alone when I bought it all used up 😛 😛 😛

I did redrill all the roll pin locations out and used a bigger size to get rid of all the slop this thing had LOL… I should help you figure out what you might be looking at and how things would work better if it was like this or that…

Hey Rowdy….You’re the angel knocking on my door.
Id love to hear more…if its a feasible solution…then I am sold for it.

Here is my nickel on the bi-pod issue… I like one really good bi-pod and then for the different rifles I want to use a bi-pod on, just by or make the adapter to fit the bi-pod to it…

All of us are different and that is the cool thing with this site. To share and visit about the stuff we like dislike and how we use it… I have a really cheap-O bi-pod I bought from a member that was torn all up and worn out six life times ago, years back when I bought this thing…

Doing this allowed me to figure out more to what I might want to do and how… Bottom line here was I came up with this bi-pod to be more like what I wanted: The BT10-LW17 – Atlas Bipod and 3″ extensions…

http://www.accu-shot.com/atlas_bipod.html

They make a really nice mono pod also for those that need/want that as well… The web sight above has a good look at their products…

Now, if your still in the process of trying to figure out what you want dude, I think I can help more, or you know which way your going???

Okay so I might just drop the idea for now till I figure out something else.

And as one of the former members recommended support with what you have in the wilderness does a neat job, but at times you run out of options.

I like the knee support trick and its helped a lot too.

synopsys : Truly said at that length, I could just sharpen the base and spear the critter 😀

Thanks for sharing the pics and help me finalizing.

Mist, there are not many choices except maybe a mono pod/stick with a nice base that is connected to the rifle and indexes quickly into the top of the stick.

Here is one with a vee at the top…

😳 I could have swore the Harris you posted wasn’t an S… 😳 Duh…

I can see your point about the weight, also the length, from the sound of it your want to deploy the bipod quickly and fussing with getting the legs extended is probably out of the question… The bipod is going to be heavy and forward and if extended it will make the rifle about six feet long…

I have one of these for my camera… With a little tinkering it could be made to fit an indexed plate mounted on the Condor…

I use it as a hiking stick when I am moving around in the field instead of collapsing it down… Could be done when hunting as well…

Good luck!

Thanks again guys :

synopsys : If I buy its gonna be the S Serial.
Have been reading a lot about that, as its an important aspect for my varmints and wouldnt want to miss that. 😉

knifemaker : I dont do bench shooting, except when I zero my scope . So 🙁 Short Harris will not solve my purpose.

Mr-lama : Your last line broke my heart “But I do have a weird dislike of tall bipods, so I may not be the best to ask. ”

LURKER #1 :
Want a High Bipod for the below :
>Need this for long shots about 80 ~ ~ ~ 120 yards range (Varmints)
> Wanna be able to take quick shots as the, shooting stick eats away time and the varmints dont wanna wait. Am I saving time and Is it technically faster with lesser complications to adjust setup so we have the eyes of the scope on the target.
> The current setup I have weighs 10.93 pounds after a condor with scope mount, scope and shroud. How much weight is my setup gonna increase by ?
> Technical difficulties around moving about with the bipod on the field.
> Advantages ……all of them…If I missed any point
> Disadvantages…all of them…. that help me finalize my decision.

Thanks a ton for stopping by for all the feedback…Keep them coming……

Help me folks……

If you have a AF rifle you will need a way to mount the sling stud. You can tap your frame for the stud or as you mentioned, use the adapter…

The one thing you can’t do with that bipod is rotate from side to side without moving the legs… I know some varmint guys like the S (swivel) series Harris bipod because you can move the barrel around without having to move the legs (good for resting on rocks or rough terrain). It has a lever to adjust the tension so the movement isn’t too free…

Hope that helps… 😕

Short Harris for me. 😉

Dah…point of order, please. I thought you were asking for a knowledgeable discussion. Please define more clearly what you mean by help. Most of us have learned to accept all input as well intentioned.

If you are shooting prone or from a bench, don’t get one that tall. I use only 6-9″ bipods on my condor and my blaser. On the condor I have a shooters ridge copy of a harris. It works well, almost identical. Very nice for the money. On the blaser I have a real harris. It is definitely better, easy to tell that it is much more solid than the copy. But is it worth the extra change, especially for under 100 yard shooting, up to you to decide. 🙂

Now for hunting, if at all possible I go prone and shoot from a bipod. However, my .22lr doesn’t have a spot for a bipod, so I just learned to shoot it without one. I can hit to about 75 yards without much trouble if I can get down on one knee or prop up against a tree. I’d say if you don’t have the ability to get prone to shoot for whatever reason, the best thing to do would be to learn to use your knee as a support.

But I do have a weird dislike of tall bipods, so I may not be the best to ask. 😉 🙂

I bought mine from Midway, I believe it has the model number stamped on the bottom…

With a rifle in a safe muzzle up looking at the bottom of the rifle with the bipod legs in their folded position the lower left flange will have HARRIS and the model number stamped below the crossbar. And the letters BR are stamped in the middle of the base below the cross bar. The attachment allen head nut has a nice flange head finger nut and the allen has what looks like the word “YES” stamped on it’s head in letters about 0.5mm tall…

If it’s not a Harris the quality is pretty damn sweet! I haven’t used it as much as my others but so far so good.

Thanks Syn! Isn’t it amazing??!! I could of sworn I had checked everywhere on it. Followed your directions and there it is, Harris, clear as day…. 😳

Syn, does your Harris bipod have any Harris markings on it? I bought a Harris from here not long ago and I’m not sure it is actually a Harris…

Are you using the one that goes above 20″.

Cauz most of the posts I’ve read are like upto 13″.
