Blame it on the war in Iraq
I just spoke to Kevin at Impactairgun.com regarding a shipment of pellets that I ordered. He, like PA has had them backordered for several weeks now. His supplier has informed him that the US Government has bought up nationwide, as many cases of these Kodiaks as they can find.
Seems for some months now, they have been being shipped over to our boys in the sand for massive rodent problems and control. Don’t know how true that may be but it sounds as logical as anything I’ve heard thus far as to why I can’t find a damned can of them anywhere lately……

Fact: The US Dept. of Agriculture uses AF TSS guns for pest control nation-wide.
I do have a few airforce customers who use their owne personal SS to shoot birds around the Aircraft. (The Air force isn’t going to let you shoot piegons with a m-16 off of their aircraft!) They were sh*tting on everything, and generally making a mess. Gulls mostly. Anlother friend here at Ft. Hood sent one to his son in Iraq. He’s been pop’en rats with in in one of the supply areas.
So yes, they are there. Just isn what capacity? I’ve heard the same storys about using them to take out lights. I hear no way. But then I have some special forces friends that say the SS works great! Quite. No muzzle flash. and the projectile is so light that it is MUCH quiter than any powder burner when it empacts. Makes all kind’s of sense.

Okay Guys; I was in Iraq for a year. I had a Condor there. It was my own gun and the government had nothing to do with it being there and the military didn’t buy me any pellets either. I used it for vermin control and my own personal amusement.
Over 9,000 feral dogs were dispatched in the province I served in over a year’s time. To my knowledge, airguns were not used for this, only issued weapons.
By the way, it’s against the Geneva Convention to shoot someone with other than military issued weapons. AKULA

Would you risk your men’s lives on a low powered airgun likely to wound a dog (should the enemy even have them…..) who is then likely to make a considerable row. Why take such a risk when you have so many nifty serious silenced guns available? Such guns would be useful for the odd enemy that might come by, something a single shot airgun (no matter how neat, quiet and accurate) is far from the best tool for.
But I guess if you’ll buy that idea, the DoD buying Kodiak pellets on the web makes some sense. Otherwise, I suspect that if they really wanted the pellets for some reason, they’d buy them the same way they buy everything else. They’d buy them as a lot from the lowest bidder, right?

I thought about using mine their, but the environment was just not suitable for a pump and sensitive PCP. I never saw or even heard of one their. I did hear of some springer’s in Tikrit. I also saw a RWS .177 pistol their but really, all it would take is a Shamal event (dust storm) and your PCP is completely dirty. That fucking dust gets everywhere, including ‘water resistant ‘watches. During DS guy’s would buy cheep waterproof watches and the sand would get in them.The dust is so fine that it would probably even get between the top hat and valve.
