Bought a ProChrono Digital today…Perplexed????
I bought a Prochrono digital today… Not having much luck. Pumped about 40 shots through it and only got about 5 readings??? I was in my garage and tried playing with lighting… just wasn’t having any luck. got my TSS .22 to read 3 shots 780, 784, 785 so I tried my Webley Tempest 308, 314, 304….. I thought for sure that both my guns would push a pellet faster than that???
Surprised how light and Chinsy that Prochrono felt, I have taken dumps that weighed more then that… I think the box was heavier then the Chrono itself

shhh I taped to night lights on the screens.
1 flickering lights like fluorecent, energy saving, computer screens lcd and tube are bad mmmmkay
2 if your not shooting outside you need light, some long thin bulbs around 10-20 watts mounted above the diffusers is needed, you need to make some shade too so false light does not shine from one bulb to the other sensor
only bulbs with a glow wire in them can be used, some of these low wattage bulbs have flickering built into them to give the sense of open flame…these will NOT work
3 the smaller the projectile the closer to the sensors you need to be..this is something i found and your results may vary….but i would hav a real hard time with .177 and less so with 5.5 but shooting close to the sensors fixed this..however shooting 400 grain .457’s i could be way off and still get a good reading
shooting close to the sensors puts your chrony at risk…you have been warned, you will sooner or later accidentally or maybe on purpose shoot it
as a guide i mounted a laser to my guns….it help align everything even though it wouldn’t be sighted in….its still much easier to visualize when you can see a dot and a faint line in the air, if no line its nut dusty enough in your garage take up smoking instantly
i know the diffusers make the space to place the shot look very large, but in reality you need to be right over the sensors and as close as possible
they work by registering the shadow from the bullet, if the shadow does not fall on the sensors it cant be recorded….most chronys will tell you which sensor failed to pick up shadow…so you can re-align and do better 🙂
4 airguns expels air, in order not to record the air discharge you need to be shooting at a bit of a distance, 3 feet should do it, and single stroke pneumatic less, and 1322 pumper not so much either, a co2 gun 1-2 feet, high power pcp 1-2 feet….insano powered aiguns like 9mm and up 3 feet…powder burners 3-9feet

Yeah you need light dude. A lot if inside. Shop light works awesome for me!

The reason you have not shot your chrony tho is that your not a natural hunter like I am, nothing gets away from me!

This did the trick for me… Home Depot – 700W – $25… and I can use it for house projects…
10 to 1 odds that you did NOT sit down and read all the directions…we (men) are bad about that..had problems with mine until I actually read ALL the directions..it has worked perfectly every day since then 🙄 🙄

Ah, I see it now. I confused the printer for the lighting stuff…
I do like the design of this one though. Simple and not bulky. The computer hook up is what makes it really sweet.

No, read the product information. Alpha Numeric Printer is integral to the device, and I’ve never needed additional lighting, even at the indoor range where I work. If you had a garage with inadequate lighting or were on a range at night I could see buying some, but I’ve never needed them for the one I have.

If the Dewalk work light is LED, that’s the problem. I know with my Shooting Chrony, plain LEDs put out the wrong wavelength for the sensors. The LED light bars I bought for it actually produce visible red light on the sky bars. I use them all the time and shade the whole thing with black plastic when outdoors and the sun is shining.

That item is $240 without a printer OR a lighting system… 😯 Sweet offer with the loan, the tag brotherhood is still strong. That setup looks pretty nice though and the pc hook up is a dynamite feature if one was doing some serious reloading and testing.
Where is SteveinLA? He know which one to buy! I bought the Chrono green, 12v lighting system and printer. Great once I got the lights. Super pita to assemble and disassemble. The one that clips on the barrel is small, compact, reliable…
