Bugs (Crickets)
It’s been really warm in Oklahoma lately and our bugs are still out. Went outside this afternoon and found a big Cricket on my front porch 😀 . A great day in the neighborhood.
Seems like this has been a long waite but it’s finally over. Was not sure I would ever really hold one in my hands. Feels really good guys and girls
I was very surprised at just how small they really are. Easily laid in the front seat of my jeep next to me. Hummmmm wonder what I could do with that. I know there have been issues with the boxing and shippments of other guns but not to worry about how the Crickets are shipped. Double boxed, popcorn, foam tubes and bubble wrapped. Just say it’s done right. It came with two mags and an extra set of o-rings. I was worried about the instructions being in Russian and my Russian sucks. Not to worry there are no instructions to translate 😯 😀
By the time I got my scope mounted the sun was gone so no zeroing this evening. I did not sleep last night thinking about the delivery and tonight I won’t sleep thinking about the sun coming up.
So really all I can tell you is it’s a sweet little rifle that feels good and has a great finish on it. Now my learning curve starts all over again on this new rifle. Is this not a great hobbie? 🙄 Also Dima Andrianov, the dealer was great to work with… 🙂

😥 Well Trygve my o-ring and teflon fix for the Cricket fill probe to foster adapter did NOT work.. 😡
Waiting now on the fill probe adapter from Pyramydair to arrive. Hope to have better luck with it.
I must agree with you that this is an issue the factory needs to address and do it soon. We lay out alot of money for these rifles and then have to jump through hoops just to be able to put air in them. This should of been corrected long ago. There is no way in hell a standard foster adapter seal will work with the small mating surface on their fill probe… 👿
Sorry guys but the foster adapter from airtanksforsale.com will not work as it comes to you. It has a standard foster seal. It is a very nice part but will need a special seal in the bottom of the adapter for it not to leak air.
This is nothing that can not be fix but on a rifle that cost this much money just should not happen. Time for Kalibr to man up and make this right.. 😎
HOOT they are just wired different than men… 😉 I’ve been married 40 plus years and I’m still clueless 😯
Pyamdair adapter is by far the least expensive and HAS a seal that should work just fine.
Zocoloco you might look up the Pyamdair adapter and give it a try if you ever need another one.
Oh by the way that lady that delivered my Cricket is still here and my wife is still pissed off about the whole deal. Had to loan the little lady a blanket right off my bed since all the cold weather blew into Oklahoma last night. What’s a guy to do 😯 😛
Wives are programmed to be pissed off. It’s in their blood.
When i owned an Evanix I had a loose probe too. I wrapped some teflon. Over the O ring grooves and put the 9 ring over them. That worked just fine!
H 😯 😯 t
HOOT the adapter I ordered from Joe Brancato at airtanksforsale.com was his part # AA/FX. I have not gotten it yet to see how it works. But I’m sure Trygve knows what he’s talking about. I’m thinking teflon tape as my first fix and if that does not work I will machine the adapter for a small o-ring for the fill probe to tighten down on. If that does not do the trick I’ll make a new Oldguy fill probe for the Cricket that I know will work.

Thats looks like the ticket there.
– and that’s how I did mine…… 😉

I have always used teflon tape (a few wraps) on my adapters and it works just fine.
never liked the crush gasket washer idea personally, too easily damaged. Thats why I use the Delrin seal version from Pyramyd Air. Excellent seal and one can make their own seal from round Delrin stock

Ok Hoot, – here comes a collection of fill probes for the mentally retarded and Alzheimer infected congregation of lunatics on this forum (others may skip reading). The picture have been posted before in another thread, – but who cares:

What these fill probes all have in common is a std 1/8 thread on one end that would fit into any filling hose adapter. But that’s as far as the standardisation goes. Not only do they have different “interfaces” into the gun, but you can see how different the fill probe nuts are. The short BSA one (to the right of the black HW one) offers the most solid nut of them all. In this lot, I think ED’s is the thinnest of them all (on the hose far left)…..
If you have more than one gun, and you want to use the same hose and fillkit for all of them, – our Friend Foster came up with a nice solution.
Instead of screwing your fill probe straight into the hose, – you screw it into a std Foster male coupling. On the hose you screw the female counterpart (seen to the far right).
These “quick couplers” are really neat and provides a nice and quick way of changing from one fill probe to another on your fillkit.
Hawkeyes may notice there is a wide gasket between the probes and the Foster male part. Mostly about the same width or smaller than the fill probe nuts. (ED’s is in dangerous territory, – it’s a bit on the small side). This gasket is there to seal the connection between probe and Foster male. The gasket is nothing but a metal ring that holds an inner gasket in place, and that’s the real seal.
Now look at the below image (also posted before) and notice the difference in fill probe nut size between Falcon, ED and Cricket (Cricket in the middle):

Falcon’s nut is big enough to cover the inner (black) gasket of the std. Foster thing. In ED’s case, – you may see the edges of this black inner gasket appearing behind his nut. In the Case of Cricket, – there is no gasket present. And there’s a reason for that…..
The Cricket probe has such a small nut that if you try to tighten it hard against a Foster gasket, – you may actually pull it through the inner part (seal). There’s no way the Cricket nut will cover the sealing part of the std Foster gasket, – and therefore it will not seal properly. The Cricket fill probe nut is simply too small……
At least the one I have……..
Now, Uncle Hoot, – got it ??? 😉
Cheers from Trygve the “Wanker”……. 😀
For those of us without a Cricket infestation, can you photograph the pieces of the probe filler you are having problems with, and ID the “adapter” you ordered?
Or, TY, perhaps you can lend an educational hand here…
Thanks!
H 😯 😯 T
PS: Ty, I emailed that neighbor girl you offered to me, but she said you still owe her 150 Kroner and won’t take referrals from a fast talking “Wanker”????
Hi OldGuy,
My thoughts:
1. The Cricket people should have solved this problem themselves a long time ago. Tells me a little about their attention to detail or lack of same…. 😥
That said, there may be Foster type gaskets out there that may seal, but the surface of the fillprobe nut is indeed tiny…….
2. Teflon tape. May work. I haven’t tried……..
3. O-ring, – same as above.
I fixed it with a gasket made to measure that sits below the threads inside the Foster thing. So far so good, – but not ideal……..
I am following the development with great interest….!!! 😀
Cheers !
Trygve 😀
Hey Trygve thanks for the offer and compliment. I was shocked how good this rifle shot out of the box 😯 Time will tell. But all for nothing if I can not get air into it.
My thought was try teflon tape on the threads first. Now I’m thinking machining the coupling adapter for an o-ring were the fill probe and adapter come together 💡 . Your thought…
As for the hole where the fill probe goes into the rifle air chamber I was thinking about making a spacer to hold the cover open as you remove the probe. This could be attached to the fill probe assembly so I would not loose it or FORGET it :oops
This is all just part of working out a system when you get a new rifle. Pain in the ass some times but mostly worth the effort… 😎 I would agree with your earlier comment about the Cricket “full blooded Italian sports car” that is the feeling it brings to mind. The scary part about that is I have owned a couple of them and I spent more time working on them than driving them 🙁 As I said time will tell. 😆
Congrats OldGuy !!!! 😀
– and great shooting…… Some very nice groups there right out of the box !!!
I’m veeery interested in your future comments. I guess I’m not the only one… 😉
Pls. take as many pictures as you possibly can. I’m more than happpy to upload for you if you can’t make Photobucket or friends work for you….
To the below:
Be careful to get the right gasket. I could not make mine work as they would not seal against the very tiny surface on the Cricket fill probe. I had to make a gasket to measure and put it inside the foster male………
Anxiously awaiting your further comments !!!!
Cheers from Trygve in Oslo…. 😀
Crap I just wrote six long paragraphs answering questions and hit the wrong button and it’s gone 👿 Now you get the short answers… :banghead:
Trigger feel – good very good. Not Daystate Air Wolf Tatical MCT good but damn close. Don’t even think trigger job!!!
Magazine smoothness – great I think. Never had a side lever PCP but no heavey pull needed to operate. Must have right side toggle button in the right position or you have a single shot 😳 See Zocoloco write up on R3/Cricket. He did a great job telling the story. Remember NO printed material comes with the Cricket.
Left handed shooting – Well I just happen to be a southpaw….works for me. Yes you feel the side lever a little. But remember you are not shooting a 500 express rifle 😯
Hey Dave thanks for posting my photos. Dave also sent me a care package of pellets to try out. Let you all know what works. JSB 18.13 doing good/real good now but only shot out to 35 yards for now.
I need fill probe adapter for my foster coupling, got one ordered from Joe at airtanksforsale.com. If you have a Cricket coming might as well order one you are going to need it. 😎
Sweet little rifle and I’d order one again knowing what I know know. 😀 Yes I still want an Edgun R3 and it’s going to have to be one hell of a rifle to make me consider sell this Cricket… Room for both in my gun safe. 🙄 Hope this helps answer your questions. If you have one on order I really believe you will be happy also.. 😆
