Can the Cricket be pumped up from zero pressure?
Some airgun’s valve need a burst of HPA to seat the valve and henceforth cannot be filled from zero pressure using a hand pump, is the cricket like this? I need to know before I depressurize it. Thanks

Hell I don’t want to work that hard, I want to play…… π
My buddy HAD a hand pump and filled his PCP once with it. Then I showed him my tank, hand pump went back next day….End of story… π
Zonk
ItΒ΄s possible
I don’t think it’s possible. I just recently disassembled my airtube…when i filled it with the scba tank the valve didn’t seat until a few seconds after. You can hear lots of air escaping before the valve seats. It’s not going to work, sorry.
It’s very easy for cricket be pumped up from zero, just cock the gun then use your hand pump (airforce, hillpump, even chinese hand pump.
I’m using a hand pump with my Cricket and it works fine. I’ve completely drained the reservoir a couple of times dialing the regulator down and it works fine to pump from empty.
First time I had a little trouble, the valve pin did not seal with low pressure. After taking the valve apart and cleaning the seat and pin it has worked as a charm every time since. As mentioned, you need to c0ck the gun before pumping.
That does move the hammer off of the valve stem (a little pressure) but it sometimes isn’t enough I have read. I assumed they were all cocking the hammer.
(Don’t know if this makes sense though….)
Guys maybe I’m wrong but I think to remember to have read a post (not Cricket related) where they say that filling from zero you need to c*ck the gun.
(Don’t know if this makes sense though….)
Yes Coda, thanks for better explanation π Couple of second is enough and valve begin seal.
Bori at TAG here in the US told me it can be really tough with a hand pump a year ago when I first bought my first Cricket but I had upgraded to tanks two years ago. I have seen dozens really struggle on the forums when they emptied the guns completely. I think Octavius is suggesting you grab the valve stem with some needle nose piers? to seal the valve and that is a novel new approach I have not heard before. π
I should have put a disclaimer in the original post to ward off this kind of comment that I knew was coming , despite how crazy you may think it is to use a hand pump please just let me get a straight answer………
Secoda pumping up cricket with good pump (I mean Hill pump) is quite ease (easy peasy lemon squeezy) π Doing some for your body and you have air whenever you want (need) IΒ΄m pumping HW100 and cricket almost two years and without problem.
Yes, is possible pumped up cricket from zero. If you have near some another person with pincers just hold the valve rod a second and done. But it works without help of another person too
Think i remember a post where somebody couldn’t get it to catch…. so i would say no. but once you get the valve to seat y not

I am really amazed that folks are filling 300 bar airguns with hand pumps. π―
When I fill my cricket from zero, it leaks air from barrel for about 5 seconds till valve seats.
It may not pump up from zero pressure with hand pump.

Thanks guys for the help, I am not quite ready to adjust the reg right now but when the time comes I am sure it will be fine to pump up. And if all else fails I can always just have someone latch on to that valve stem with a pair-o-vise grips π
I will get a fill setup someday but as for now I have absolutely no problems pumping it up to 230ish bar. I mean heck I’ve seen some guys say that the slow fill feature of the cricket makes the time to fill it from a tank like 5 mins, and I can top it off from 120 to 200 bar in 7 minutes tops. So in the grand scheme of things I’m not missing out on that much shooting time :), but I suppose vigorously slamming a pump for 7 minutes probably isnt as easy as just opening a valve huh? π
ahh well…..
