Can you shoot a talon in competition?
Now that I have my talon on the way I have been searching around the net and discovered that the Air Rifle World Field Target Championship is held about 15 miles from my house here in middle Tn..After looking at the results from last year there wasnt a single Air Force gun at the shoot..all Theoben’s Steyr’s and some I have never heard of..Do you think these guns are not allowed? or not considered fancy ’nuff?? thanks!

Lots of work being what? I think I will go to one of their monthly shoots just to see how I stack up..If these will group 1″ at 50 yards I think I may be able to hang with them..It would be funny to out shoot some with one of there guns vs. those big giant fancy rigs they have.. 😆
Ditto what WOK said. The USA FT championships are the real deal and one would need to do lots of work to a airforce gun just to get it compete, and it still will not place in the top level rankings.
It really is an ergonomic thing. The way the gun is built it would take a lot of changes as well as added weight to make it ready for competition.
Just remember most those guns they use in competition are not used to hunt in the field.
If you want to be competitive another gun would be better. If you want to shoot FT for fun then go for it.

Yeah you should go and shoot and really see what the game is all about. I would practice and shooting 1/2″ and 3/8″ kill zones on paper from 15 to 25 yards. Also It would be better if your scope can zomm out to 20x or better.
