Q:

Cheap Optics

I tend to work on you get for what you pay for. But a few of my friends are getting in to long range shooting so thought id give it a go. It is just for fun so I am looking to do it on the cheap!

So I got looking and found Vector Optics Counterpunch 6-25×56. The zoom range looked about right for what I was planning. It is mil dot that a like to use and it is front focal plane so true at any magnification. But I am worried it is going to be to cheap and just a load a junk.

Do any of you have experience with this Vector Oprics scope or any of there scopes? Or could you recommend a better one on a budget.

Thanks πŸ™‚

Roachcreek you can kiss my ass square in the crack and you’ll haft play with someone else’s balls, I don’t swing that way. Pussy is my love of life.

BTW My Bushnell is not made in china, ha ah ha!

I don’t buy chinese rifle scopes unless it a Falcon menace, so go play with you own balls or someone elses, cause you’ll get more than you can handle you stupid Idiot.

Sam πŸ˜†

check out sportsmans warehouse and look at there counter sniper scopes made in the USA and there badass ur talking 2500-6000 dollar scopes for 600 or less check them out and tell me what u think

Ohhhhhhhhhh Ok , thanks for clearing that up, I did not understand what he was refering too .

sorry about that 07 .

heres a post from sniper central on a new scope

http://www.snipercentral.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=35226

Holdover,

He was refering to me and cheap scopes I have bought in the past, I don’t think he meant anything against you.

I know what has worked or me, and nobody can tell me different. But my experience has been with varix2’s and 3’s and limited experience with the Mark 4. I did not try the Bushnells, I like to eat elk too much. πŸ˜†

I would not even think about hunting in those conditions with Chinese glass. But all this was during the time Bushnell was made in Japan, perhaps the Chinese make them better now. πŸ˜‰

I am just hard headed.

Anyway I have better things to do, I am watching Gunbroker auctions for Leupolds.

Bye.

did I not say the menace was OK ? I didnt shit all over it , looks like a decent scope to me. just big and heavy .

I also recomended a Bushnell, why dont you learn to understand what your reading before putting words in my mouth?? Did I tell the guy to buy a barska, or a millet?

I never said anything of the sort, in fact I didnt even imply it .

I dont even know what the hell your talking about. all I said was dont buy a cheap scope Jeeeeez sorry I hurt your feelings

Yes I researched the millet at snipers hide, and the Baraska I bought because buying airguns had my shooting budget broke.

Millet was sold to Bushnell, or I would not have bought it.

The leupolds, I researched in a way of life you would never have the balls to try.

You go ahead and buy your cheap chinese scopes, if it works for you, buy a few chinese airguns while your at it, it is america we can do as we please.

As for me, I will buy american quality and put american skilled labor to work.

Roachcreek

i will tell yall this im happy with my cheapass center point scopes from walmart they work good for me whether its long range or short they do good

It’s the Brand names, Let’s see Millet I believe was the brand instead of Bushnell, Barska I believe, also not Bushnell again. Did you do any research @ all about these two scopes. Barska has always had a bad rap, “worthless” most common descriptor. Millet hit the ground running, fell and dropped the ball. All the reviews I read say millet was a coin toss @ best. Both chinese and I wouldn’t buy one with your money.

Can you judge all chinese scopes by those two pieces of crap and your experiences, Not. The Falcon, Menace, is chinese and has a Gold Ring Leupold warranty, plus a money back guarentee Kicker. This is a Real Tactical scope not a wanna be Millet or CounterStrike/Barska. Throw the Barska into the garbage and send the millet back to Bushnell and get it Fixed.

I,m not pushing chinese made scopes, Being a hijacked thread, My opinion was the menace was a FFP scope of equal value, but of better, known quality and warranty. It is a plane jane, no bling, long range, Like I said, best value for price class available.

Did you look into the warranty service provided Millet/Barska, evidently not, having your expressions about Bushnell. Who’s fault that, hmmmmmmmmmm I wonder? Had you done some research and bought a Menace, you’d be a happy camper and preaching sweet tidings of Joy!

Leupold sells alotta hype and a insurance policy and that’s that. Do google search for Leupold Reviews and you find alot of bad reviews also. Canted reticles, Non linear turrets, smudges, trash in the optics, etc etc etc

Evidently we scared the OP off, Hope you get a scope suitable for long range target shooting, You may try the Sniper’s Hide or Sniper Central web sites, They are not as biased as us Bushnell and Inflated Leupold users.

Bushnell Rules.

Hey 07, look I was simply telling the guy not to buy a cheap scope or he would be looking for a new one next year.

if you factor in the costs of buying two scopes for 150 0r 200 each , your already at the price of a decent one . so dont buy 2 trash scopes and one good one like I did.

spend the money for a good one and sell it later if you want .

I have an Leupold mark AR , one of the cheaper Leupolds paid around 300-350 , and it works excellent , no complaints . sure it might not have the glass of a mark 4 but still the glass is the best I ever used for the money.

I gave him some good model scopes to consider even the menance and the bushys arnt exactly cheap scopes . We might not agree on a brand but I think we put out some good info for the guy, none of the scopes we mentioned are junk.

buy cheap buy twice !

Sam,

With me it is the KISS principle.

I had the bling scope, it had 4×16, power, Side focus, targert turrents, a lighted reticle and 30 MM. and it was a a $300.00 chinese made scope.

It did not track well, taking a few shots or tapping on the turrents to get them to move. It was dark on 16 power. I read Mamcrackins excellent peice on different points of impact on different power levels, something I did not have to deal with with a Leupold.

During the time my scope was on its 2.5 month journey to get the tracking fixed, I wondered what else was out there? So then I started looking at just plain glass, what would I get for $300.00 without the target turrents, a AO insead of SF, a lower power, and last but not least that wonderful useless lighted reticle?

The answer was I could get a used Leupold, one that had not been used as hard as I had used them, in the varix3 range if I really looked for a bargain.

That answer came to me becuase I remembered my friend Jack and his early made 4 power Leupold he bought for $25.00 at the garage sale, the one with the broken reticle, back when they had actual cross hairs instead of engraved glass reticles, and got rebuilt for free. By the way I bought that scope from him and used it for years afterwards and it never failed me, it is probably not failing the person who stole it from me either.

The only thing I need is a mildot, I will pay to get that in when I get a good deal on a used one.

And that last sentence is where you and I really disagree, on the used thing, I know what I am getting and what the service I will get with a used Leupold, with a chinese scope you get the words of Forest Gump, ” you never know what your going to get.”

And No, I do not know anybody in the Leupold factory or repair department, other than sending them back for turrents, I never had to deal with them.

Which says a lot.

Roachcreek

I am happy as clam with my elite 4200 3-12×44 FFP and would never ever give it up for a Leupold. I’ll never need to “Send it Back” to get the features added to a Leaupold, That Bushnell already had before I bought it. Making the Inflated Leupold cost more than I’ve already Paid.

The chinese scope I’m recommending will take anything a Leupold will @ 1/4 of the price and has a money back guarΒ·anΒ·tee which is better than Leupold’s

I like dealing with on a first name basis with friendly company customer service, rather than whichever pee onn happens to pick the phone up today.

It’s allways been who you know, rather than what you know, and obviously you don’t know anyone @ Bushnell, Seems you know someone @ Leupold.

Sam πŸ™„

Well your right about the Leupold does not have anything in that price range with those features.

If you consider Chinese made scopes, a feature to crow about.

The thing about Leupold is that you do not have to “know someone” in the repair department to get it fixed.

You can send a Luepold in to get mildots and target turents. I just have read too much about the Bushnell repair depatment, and had experience with their snails pace repairs. Leupolds factory is close by and it works or me.

Sam, I just don’t like chinese stuff, I like american made products, and yes in this day and age it is hard to find american made stuff.

Having said that, I have three chinese made scopes, for what I wanted they work fine for the time being, I never thought I would own such things. They work, but the quality of the lenses and mechanics are just not quality.

And I have said this before, the average shooter does not need 32 power, 12 is as high as you really should go, unless you have specific needs. You do not need lighted reticles, and on cheap scopes target turents are a breakdown waiting to happen.

The chinese copy stuff cheaply, key word here is cheaply, they have no real accoutnability for their junk. So when you get a 30 MM scope with a lighted reticle in several colors, 8 to 32 power and side focus to shoot squirrels out your kitchen window, you will never notice the difference, your not working with that gun. Your not in bad weather with that gun, and if that glass fails you your not going to go hungry for protein that winter.

It is just not my cup of tea, but my requirements were and are are diferent than yours. How many folks do you know that had a 1100 yard range on their property? Not quite the kitchen window bird feeder shot

I am not a glass snob, I do not own any of the high end Leupolds and with the exception of a Mk4 on a SR 25, and a handmade 1000 dollar MVA scope for a sharps rifle, all my scopes have been Varix 2 and 3’s, I used them hard, some I used up thru abuse ie., horse and rv wrecks, but with normal hard use, I could depend on them.

Leupolds just work day in and day out you seem to have a bad taste in your mouth concerning Leupold, I suspect it is simply envy.

Roachcreek

Hold over: I think you missed the point also, which Bushnell 3200/4200 “FFP” model for $500 are you talking about. Not trying to argue, I own a 4200 FFP and Leupold has absolutely nothing in that price range and quality with said features, to compare, bar none! I would have bought Leupold, Like I said, they have nothing of Bushnell’s Quality or price point!

I owned the menace for awhile, and it is a big brick, good glass, good reticle and dam good repeatable turrets, AND is a ENTRY LEVEL FFP, long range scope. Good and cheap, both? Only chinese I’ll ever invest into my hard earned Hobby. The menace is a 1lb brick where the OP’s Counterpunch is a big 2lb brick!

Just trying to make my point. Both brands make high and low quality items, but one’s price point is way off the scale. Who starts into a new hobby and buys the best of best, most expensive, lifetime warranteed equipment, before he knows it’s gonna be a lifetime Hobby, not me!

Sam ❓

Its OK to disagree, and yep they do charge a premium . But they are excellent scopes .

Its not all hype . and I dont know what quality features they are missing.

on the other hand the “”Chineese “”falcon menance is all right , but it weighs almost a metric ton ! I think theyre around $400 – $500 bucks which is the cost of a 3200 0r 4200 bushy and a 12x Leupold, personally for the money I go with the Leupy. The chineese also make a copy of the leupold mark 4 for about $150.

you have to consider the weight when your shooting offhand too.

Im not a glass snob , but Im a turrent snob , the turrents must work every time. thats just me, might not matter to others .

for long range airgun work you dont need much above a 15x except for maybe field target because theyre shooting at dimes .

I dont know, I think the bushy, the leupold and the WOTAC all lifetime guarentees are a good deal, and resellable.

I cant say anything bad about the menance except that its pretty dam big .

but I guess we all have our own take on it .

I have come to the conclusion I would never buy a leupold regardless of cost or warranty. They simply don’t have the quality features and better scopes with same lifetime warranty can be bought for less or same money.

Bushnell treats most people the same they get treated, and need to know who to contact at Bushnell. They have an Iron clad, life time warranty, that includes a one year no questions ask exchange policy. Leupold DOES NOT HAVE THAT in their lifetime WARRANTY.

Which 1k$ FFP are you Talking about. That,s alotta bull……..? It would be an absolute bargain @ Leupold’s inflated prices!

My scopes better n your on! sounds likes 2 2 year olds dont it?
