Chrony Time
Okay so I bought a chrony and its time to take a look at my gun output.
Question. How far away should I put the end of the barrel from the chrony??

True, but would be nice to know if its ‘on the button’
Does the F1 come with a calibration certificate ??
How true does any chrono read. As long as it’s in the ball-park the rest is just providing you with a benchmark from which to work.
Also using a Combro- No probs as of yet. Build quality is a bit rough to say the least, but it works good with or without a silencer.
How true is it reading….? Now theres a question….. 😀
I have my combro for about 1.5 years now, and it’s still working perfectly on my Shadow, which has a Weihrauch silencer attached to the front cap and shoots at about 30 fpe
I don’t use it that much though, I rarely change anything on my rifle, since it works perfectly for me, so I only check every now and then to see if the performance is still on target.
Well, the only issue I’ve had with mine was when I used it at night in the kitchen under a very poor source of light. Other than that it’s performed 100%.
Maybe it’ll flake out within 12 months, in which case I’ll have it replaced/repaired under warranty. I’ll update here if that happens, but so far for £40 it’s been GVFM.
Same as the one I got.
Does yours work with a shroud fitted? From what I can recall mine also would not register when a shroud was fitted.
Maybe I got a duff one, but I was warned by someone else on TOG, cant remember who, that it would act up in exactly the same way, the guy who warned me offered his free to another to member to test.
Black OOPs Jim got one at the same time as me, but havent heard of him in a long time.

Mine is adjustable. The v-shaped trough is held to the barrel or silencer with an elastic-band, and the chrono can be slid up and down on the end of the trough to bring it in line with the bore and secured with a knurled set-screw.

Tron – I have looked all over the net and can not locate one to buy. You must have gotten the last one.
I’ve got the Gaylord F1-9000 Chrony. I fire the gun and it barks out the exact velocity. If you give it a pen and paper it will also work out the energy as well.
You have one? Just wondering cos I dont remember seeing any questions from you about where to mount it 😆
That’s because on something so technical I decided it best to ask somewhere where somebody might have half a clue. 😛
Bought on on foot of another member raving about them, thought it to be
a good concept, compact, versitile etc.
In reallity, my experience was that it kept logging errors, a sensor came loose, the power of the condor splits them, and It kept switching itself off before you could read the display, which is Fuckinng annoying when it happens for the tenth time, messes up your string too 👿
Could be that they work fine on 12flb rifles, but the one I got certainly could not cope with a condor.
Just buy a F1.

Mine’s been rock-solid, both on my rifle and friends’ .22 powder-burners. Sounds like you had a duff one.
My personal experience of the combro is they are Shit.

I usually set my Beta up within about a foot. If I get errors, it’s either not enough light, I’m shooting at an angle, or I’m too low (too close to the sensors). Lighting isn’t usually an issue, I have a cardboard shield that rests on the diffusers with slots cut for most of their length. I set a halogen stand light next to it shining down on the diffusers. This works indoors or out, and seems to eliminate lighting problems. Later.

well, in theory you could test the standard deviation by putting two in line, firing say 10000 shots and divide the average percentual difference by two
or something in that general area, i barely passed statistics
ofcourse, that doesn’t take into account any offset or linear error, hence the “in theory” 🙂
[edit] also, you wouldn’t know which one is off 🙄 [/edit]
now, what was it we were talking about? 😯 🙄
