Q:

Chrony Time

Okay so I bought a chrony and its time to take a look at my gun output.

Question. How far away should I put the end of the barrel from the chrony??

You have one? Just wondering cos I dont remember seeing any questions from you about where to mount it πŸ˜†

Got a new CED M2. How close to the sensors in height should you be when shooting. How about level? If you shoot through at an angle will that effect the reading? The book says if you are 1/16″ off in length when putting the sensors on the arms, it would be off. That is why I am wondering if going accross at an angle would effect the reading. Book does not say.

With CO2 guns like the Crosman 2250 I’ll put the muzzle about 3 inches from the front sensor. With the higher powered one like the Condor I’ll put it within 8 or 10 inches. I’ve never had problems.

The chrony is a Beta model set up indoors with dual 60 watt incandescent lamps.

I have an Alpha Master and shoot within 1 foot from the first sensor with no problems. So long as you don’t get error 1 & 2 your okay. The further you shoot from the Chrony the greater the error in true muzzle velocity.

I usually shoot through mine from 8-9 feet away that way i’ve actually got a target behind it to aim for so i don’t clip the F1 which i did with the very first shot out of the box when new πŸ™

I got the F1 Chrony

i put my air guns about 3 feet away from my F1
and about 6 – 8 feet away for my firearms.

NOTE: if your shooting thru a scope, make sure you add the 2 inches or whatever the scope is above the barrel, or you’ll end up shooting the F1, and they tend to act poorly after that πŸ™„

I got the F1 Chrony

Which crony?

A couple of feet from the muzzle is usually enough if you are after muzzle velocity. If you get error readings, move it away another foot. It is probably reading muzzle blast and the poor thing is confused.
