CO2 Tanks Shooting vastly different speeds??
Two co2 tanks. both filled at the same shop. Both have been in the same drawer for days so temperature difference is out. Without changing anything but the tanks , #1 tank shoots 545 fps fairly consistently and the other #2 tank 650 fps fairly consistently. Consistently meaning at least 80 fps faster from #2. Same crony and i switched them about a dozen times but same result each time. I then put about 100 to 150 shots through #2 and it stayed in the 635 to 650 range. Went back to tank #1 and still down in the mid 550’s. Can the pin valve on the older tank be better than the new tank that came with my TSS. Both are 12 ounce. Thanks

Yes Sir you were right on! That’s why I asked on this forum. Sure to get an answer and the right one. Now I am trying to replicate it. 80 to 100 FPS for a little air seems to good to be true!

you need this http://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/AirForce_PCP_Hand_Pump_for_AirForce_Rifles_Incl_Hose_Adapter_Pumps_up_to_3600_psi/81 comes with the fill adapter then you put the co2 adapter onto the co2 tank put the fill adapter onto the co2 adapter then snap the handpump onto the fill adapter start pumping the handpump and the gauge will jump fast to about 50 bar then when the gauge looks like it stopped moving add 15 to 20 more pumps no more than 20 or you could blow the burst disc Do At Your Own Risk when you are going to refill the co2 tank make sure you empty the tank if you keep adding air sooner or later you will fuck up the tank so always empty before refill to do that take off the o-ring screw the tank into the co2 adapter it will hiss until nothing is left in the tank unscrew then take it in for a refill

Was my old tank the one shooting hot? It is and old trick I learned when I use to paintball
Although I would love to do that, I do not have the pump or equipment, gauges etc. Guess I am stuck with the CO2 for now
Never add to much just a little that’s all its needs
If it was my tank I sent you I always top off my Co2 with air all you do is put the Co2 adapter on a fill adapter on that then use a handpump and and pump until you get up to pressure and then pump about another 10 strokes into the Co2 tank

Contact the ‘old tank’s’ owner and get it’s history, could solve your mystery?
IMHO don’t understand how the pin valve on the Co2 tank could cause loss of velocity? Could be a difference in the OEM’s design. The new tanks valve pin may not open as much as the old tank, as in the new tanks valve pin is shorter and does not contact the pin inside the SS Co2 adapter at the same distance. I’m saying the new tanks valve pin is other wise recessed deeper than the old tank. You could lay a straight edge across each tanks valve and measure the dept to each valve pin from the straight edge. The shorter/deeper the pin is, less it opens, that may make the difference.
Seems I read a long post somewhere about short Co2 valve pins having different depths ?

Using the same adapter narrows the problem a bit.
Does the new tank seem to seat the same into the adapter? Any possibility of looser threads?
Anyway, it appears to be an AF problem. Give them a call.
