Q:

Considering switching to the dark side w/ researched ?’s

I’ve been shooting a Gamo Big Cat and other springers for a while now and I’m contemplating a Talon SS. I’m using it to remove pests within 35 yards (ie: squirrels and rats) and target shooting. I want to stay with .177 because the other guns we have are that, and I’ve had no problem with knock down power with them and I have a ton of pellets. I’m thinking the SS because it is potentially very quiet.

The questions I couldn’t find answers to:
What is average fps in a stock Talon SS (12″ barrel in .177)?
How many fills does one 80cft scuba yield?

Ideally, I’m looking for something as powerful as my Big Cat without the kick with better accuracy. Will the SS fit the bill?

You can get how many times you can fill your gun from http://www.airhog.com
They have a nice calculator for that.

Welcome!!

I have no Idea what the big cat shoots at. yeah, I know what they say in the sales flyers, but Gamo is always padding their vel. numbers. A LOT!

The AF Guns Flat Kick Ass! Period. Getting them to shoot fast isn’t the problem. It’s dialing down to shoot a bit slower that takes a bit of time.
Remember. High velocity isn’t where your best accuracy is.

With my 18″ .22 in a talon SS with the hot roded valve, I can get under 1/4″ at 50 yards on a regular basis. NO GAMO can even come close to these guns.
And I’ve owned a few!

Welcome! AF rates the SS in .177 @ 1000fps. Might be a little more or less, depending.

No idea about the scuba tank, but someone will chime in.

If you like the Gamo springer’s accuracy, you’re going to sh*t your pants the first time you shoot the SS. 😆

This place is a wealth of information about AF guns. Spend some time reading through the Quick Reference section as well as the other forums, and you’ll get a complete idea of what these guns are all about and what they’re capable of.

Have fun!
