Cosmetic surgery on the Maddog stock
I just could not live with that flare on the end of the pistol grip.
So..

You brought it up buddy. I’m all done… but I have no problem discussing it further if people want to post comments about me.

Pardon?
Moneyshot,
They are a laminated white and brown colored wood, perhaps Poplar?
My concern is if they warp, so I am keeping my gun outside in a unheated garage in this Pacific NW late fall where folks are falling of bicycles and drowning.
If the stocks warp, I will find out in a month or so.
Again, if possible thru machining or welding, we need a WOK guard with a free floating forearm hanger, any welders know if this can be done?
One thing I have found, you can really hold this Maddog stock close and tight to get really consistant groups.

you know, id jump on the field short model in a split second IF they were through composite instead of painted wood…does anybody know what kinda wood they use? or better yet, if somebody makes a fully synthetic 1 piece stock?
Nice to get the flare off the pistol grip, but the next mod to that stock will probably be cutting the pistol grip off completely and carving a AR 15 mounting stud where the pistol grip was so I can mount a Houge grip.
Harry, I wished I had ordered a modle that had a longer forearm, I shoot a lot out of the garage doorway to a killing tree 50 yards away, it would be nice not to touch the tube at all, as it is I need to still grab the tube to make the shot in that position.
But the best of both worlds would be a WOK guard with a free floating forearm hanger. Perhaps one could be welded on to a WOK guard.

Nothing beats the original. 😆

Harry,
I still have the WOK guard, it is on my Talon with the Airarcher assembly and I do like it, as far as looks to me it has the Maddog stock beat 7 ways to Sunday, but the rifle shots more consistantly with the Maddog.
I may cut the handle off the Maddog and carve a stud for a Houge ar 15 that to my tastes would help a lot. IT is the support of the frame I am after.
I feel that once you get that frame supported, these rifles will shoot as well as any small bore, just a lot harder.
It is all about personal tastes and as long as your shooting your rifle and having fun with it it is all good.

Thanks… Got it from some guy in California….fits better then the other one I got from the guy in Kentucky 😆
Nice bipod mount.

As I was saying….
You can hold this stock very tight and it does not seem to flex, but whether it will warp with moisture and change POI remains to be seen.
Another problem I see is with the method incorprated to gain access to the barrel mounting grub screws. THese little buggers strip out and having to thread them thru the holes in the stock would seem to invite getting them in crooked.
The more I handle the stock since altering the pistol grip the more I like it tho.
