Q:

CP Differences between dies

Hello all,

I use Crossman Premiers for plinking on lower power and today, I just got my second box of them. My first box was die #7 and there is a pretty good sized chunk of extra lead in each one of the pellets’ hollow part of the skirts, off to the side. This new box, die #1, doesn’t have that little extra piece. They seem a lot more uniform too. Anyone else notice this / have CP’s in other dies?

I sure the price of lead like other metals has gone up. Gold was over a $1,000/oz a couple of weeks ago. It’s below that now, but for how long?

Sorry, that was little confusing as written. The ones I have are domed. The CPs are now $23 at PA

😯 Holy shit! 😯 They were 14.65 last month. I see the JSB Excact 500 tin has gone up to 21.99 also. Is there a lead shortage now? Makes the 4 for 3 deal not such a deal anymore.

I just finished up a box of #7 in .22 and they also had the blob of lead in the hollow. (Not a pit and blob). Didn’t seem to affect the accuracy from what I could tell. Loved ’em.

I too have a box of #7 dated 10/03/07. I’ve inspected about 20. Found no pitting on the skirts. Some had a thin line in the hollow. Shot about a 100 through a stock SS. Grouped well at 25 & 50 yrds. Like Kodiaks best. These pellets are now $23 a box. Ouch! Been waiting 6+ weeks for exacts as well. The local Basspro carries them, but not the heavies.

I bought 4 boxes of them from P- Air, Said die 7 on the box but they were pointed hunting pellets. I called Crosman and they sent me 4 boxes to replace them. (Die 1) They were domed and did not have the lead drop in the hollow. They look much better. But they will not group well from my CFX. I have an order in for 6,000 JSB Exacts if they ever get them in.
