Q:

Cricket leaking but can’t find the source

I have already replaced the front seal oring for the gauge…I pumped the gun up to 250bar about 3 days ago and I’m at 200bar now…so the leak isn’t bad enough to loose pressure quickly enough to hear a hiss….we’re else should I look?

take OD reading from top of black adjustment screw to end of regulator prior to un screwing the adjustment screw. this is the most accurate way in going back to original setting.

Ernest

When he change mentioned o-ring in the regulator will be necessary set the regulator again? If yes how we can do it at home ?

I really appreciate the involvement from the folks on this forum!

Thanks so much Ernest, I will be trying this today.

Ernest is THE MAN!!!!

Excuse me for jumping into this thread, but I am also struggling with a leak on my Cricket 22.

This is a very fast leak, it won’t allow me to fill the tube (with a hill hand-pump).

It leaks from the 2nd tell-tale hole, away from the breech. I believe this is the hole between the high pressure side and the regulated air side.

I followed Ernest Rowe’s excellent video, openned up the gun … but the o-rings looked perfect.
I applied Molykote55, re-assembled and tried to pump it up (hand pump), but leaks through the 2nd hole immediately.

I opened it up again, replaced the two perfect looking seals on the outside of the regulator, applied molykote55, and assembled carefully.

Please can someone let me know if I am doing something obviously wrong – or if I should be checking something else.

your regulator rotor is leaking, pull rotor out then you will see, see photos and the one o-ring under the brass retainer under the black adjusting knob that seals the smaller part of the rotor. see the reg large two orings there is a tale tale hole in between that’s a indications that one of the 2 seals are leaking. Suppose to be no air pressure in the disk rotor chamber if so it will not work properly so MFR put the vent hole to indicate leakage. Most Likely the small o-ring that seal the unregulated air, had 2 faulty reg I resealed and both had that o-ring worn out. click on photo for a full image!

If it’s not the Orings, make sure to fill up with silicon/grease where the Orings are seated.

Thanks Charlie … I may have to call Steve, or Dima if he is still available.

I got my gun from Dima, before WILDWEST was selling them.

I guess if the tube is not pressure at all, it’s better to use scuba tank to fill it first. So the piston can close the hole. Not sure, just guessing.
Give a call to Steve at Wild West airgun. He’s the man taking care of Cricket. Good luck

Thanks Wingman, that is what I am guessing … but I am pretty clueless.

I am guessing that the air could be leaking through the hole that is on the regulator between the o-rings. And from there it would go out of the tell-tale hole.

I just have no way to test this???

Uhhh crap …I am worried about taking that thing apart. Let me look at Ernest’s regulator video another 10 times and try and see if anything makes sense.

My 12 year old kid suggests I just keep my finger on the hole to stop the air … mechanical ingenuity runs in the family!

It sounds like it could be the O rings inside the regulator on the piston not the external ones

xbangu, thanks. I saw a similar note on the kalibrgun web site, but I don’t think it applies to my leak.

I haven’t installed the breech … so I just have the air tube separate without anything pressing on the valve.

The leak is very large, and is coming out of the 2nd tell-tale hole, before the valve (I believe). It qppears it must be leaaking past the first seal on the regulator. But the seals look perfect .. and it leaks out as fast as I can pump

I will check again though to see if somehow the rod is being pressed and affecting it.

try cocking the gun then pump, because there no air in there, when the hammer rest on the rod it make it open. Nothing to push it back.

Your stock just went up a notch. And Uncle´s went down by the same amount IF he indeed owns one of them Hair Driers … Not manly- not manly at all !
