Q:

Cricket Mistake

Hi guys and gals. Just going to ramble a minute. No bashing but an honest thought. I have a Benjamin Marauder Prod and have been quite happy with it. Being able to afford it and hearing all the good things coming on the P12 I put in for it but subsequently cancelled it. Bought a Cricket standard with the black synthetic stock but traded stock for the wood one. Soeee now I have a cricket in .22 with the wooden stock with the magazine holder. The point of this post is this. When push comes to shove I go back to my Prod. Yea the Cricket is ACCURATE, 30 FPE = 876FPS FOR 18.3 GRAINS But, I am 67 years old, have bad shoulders with surgery = weak. With all the good things about the Cricket, the weight for a sore old man is a little to much. I always end up going back to the lightweight PROD. I should add that I do not shoot for distances over 40 to 50 yards so the Prod is adequate whereas the Cricket is overkill. I am sure going to miss the Crickets quality and maybe even the heft, just feels solid BUT for me I think a lighter piece is in the future. Now the question is this, what is the lightest carbine style, short, small, good HPA out there. Thanks for any help and Cricket will be posted soon as I can take pictures.

Not great. CF is genius! And should be easy to do to boot.
That OEM plate has to be of the softest “metal” known to man. An CF plate would make a superb replacement.

Thanks, Ville excellent mod. This fixes the most annoying part of owning a Cricket and is easy to do. A carbon fiber replacement plate is a great idea!!

What is the purpose for grinding off the divider for auto indexing and manual indexing? With it gone, I would think it would alway manual index??

What? No one’s grinding off any dividers here. Check the pic again – we’ve made a recess for the mag axle pin in its rearmost position so you don’t need to hold it rearwards while you remove/reattach the mag.

quote REARSPROCKET:

Dunk there are few things you can do to make the Cricket fit you, to lighten it up you should be using the skeleton stock without the mag holders it’s much lighter than the bull dog stock your using now, also put a light compact optic up top. The power can easily be turned down to what you want and you’ll get more backyard friendly shots. Ernest tunes his own Crickets down and is a master at it. The Cricket with a skeleton stock and a light optic is a very light rig. I have a Prod and like it a lot to, but it is what it is a very accurate (14+ fpe) paper and feather blaster.

Looking for a skeleton stock

Well I got my Brocock Contour XL Elite S6 .22 in on Friday. It is their new model with a larger air tank & gauge. It is a nice light gun that if it was the first one I bought would probably be a keeper. Having shot my Cricket for several months and being use to stacking pellets in the same hole the Brocock is not for me. Not going to bash the Contour but have issues with trigger and chambering a pellet. Tried several different pellets and the magazines are a little finicky also. As a final note I do not consider the Brocock on par with the Cricket. I would compare it more closely with my Prod. Thanks for all the help and suggestions but I am going to just have to start working out! 😆

I actually got/stole the idea from one UK “lad” so the idea isn’t mine originally. A great mod nevertheless. And yeah , the plate is the softest sheet of metal known to modern Man so don’t bend it.

I did mine also thanks to Ville’s advice. Which I hate to mention by the way…..

Makes reloading mags a cinch, can even do it one handed.

That’s a great idea…Thanks!

One thing Ville forgot to mention so I’ll bring it up. Ville’s memory is as short as his pecker, ask Hoot: if you don’t believe me. He’s the only other person to have seen it besides Ville’s other boyfriend. Oh where was I? Oh yea the side plate is very thin and VERY soft, so go slow when you put your notch in it.

😳 I thought I had them all cleaned off. I better shave a little closer..

Herring humping is not sick! Everybody does it in Finland. Our love for the nature must be expressed in some way.

He should buy a now available Lelya just like Hoot: and may be for the same reason. 😉

Lets get someone to cut a CF piece with this feature included !!

Herring humper  ……… no comment on the grey pubic hair 😳
