Q:

Cricket Shorty! – Kalibrgun Cricket Compact .22

First off, I would like to apologize in advance for the crappy quality of some of the Pictures, the bad ones were taken by a shitty phone camera…

Allright, so I got myself a new gun, I have had it for a couple Days, not even a week yet. The gun is a Kalibrgun Cricket Compact in .22 This gun is new as in it has been laying around since 2013 without use, there is a story behind how I got a hold of it but I am not going to bore you with it, all in all, it would not be possible without Sir Ville.

Ville ordered this gun for me and tuned/fixed it up for me, he polished the barrel, set the reg/valve etc and got it shooting, these are the kind of Groups he got at 42m Indoors, 5 shots:

When he finnished he sent it to me and I have been out to shoot it about 4 times total, like I said, only been in my hands a couple Days.

So far I am very happy with it, I see now why peolpe praise the Compact and Mutant Shorty because for some reason (unexplainable to me) the shorter the gun the more fun. I guess it is like having a tiny mini with 500BHP….

The things I have done includes polishing the hammer and some receiver parts, then lubing them with a great Product called “Archoil AR8300 Severe Duty Synthetic Grease”

The trigger on this gun is absolutely Amazing, much better than on my old .177, not sure why but I am not complaining

This is my setup:

Cricket Compact .22 (63cm long)
Delta Optical Titanium 4,5-30×50
Eaglevision Forward Infinity adjustable mount (FAE-L50)
Wheeler Engineering Anti Cant Indicator
Greenbase CNC Bipod (copy of the Atlas)

By the way, I am LOVING this scope, it weighs about 760 grams or so but with all else (scope mount etc) it weighs over a kilogram, but it is a really great scope.

Lets talk about my results so far, I shot it at 52m and here are best Groups:

4 shot – 0,96cm or 0,38″ CTC (last in the Magazine after two five shot Groups)

5 shot – 1,15cm or 0,45″ CTC

This gun outshoots me by far and when I get more trigger time I do not doubt I will be able to stack a full Magazine under 0,5″ at 52m. But that will take time and practice, once I put 2 tins of pellets through it I will do some more serious chrony work and see what I get, but at around 905 fps with 16gr I get at least 4 mags, but more on that later…

Here is my range, I can get up to 100m but now I am shooting at 52m The stump acts like a table, you slip your legs under it and rest the gun on top. Not by any means the best rest but better than prone IMO.

Hopefully you will join me on my journey with this gun, lots of things to do such as calculate BC get Strelok pro to line up with real World results etc. I am going to quote Ted here and say “I got my fire back guys” this gun has great potential and I am super exited to get back out in the Woods for some more target shooting, I have already taken a Crow with it

Cool, thanks for the info. The tin of FX pellets were sooo much better than the JSB 18gr For me but they don’t make FX in 18gr unfortunately. I just ordered 5 tins of 18gr anyways and will do some more accuracy tests before messing with the velocity.

Just wanted to share my experiences your mileage may vary but I tried the air arms 16 grain pellets 1 in 6 had skirt damage idk if I just got a bad batch I bought 4 tins and the other 3 tins are unopened as the 18 grain jsb was the clear winner the groups were tighter and more consistent
Btw I’m shooting the 18 grain @ 860 fps very accurately it’s my favorite gun stupid accurate and perfect for in town use I was going to turn the speed up when I notice me and my buddy colibri have the same holdovers…he is shooting the 18 grain also however
he is shooting them at 904 fps
so anyways i get 4 mags 56 shots easy! But my compact likes the 18 grains better

Yeah, will be cool to see how the pellets preform in a dirty barrel vs clean etc. I also have the eagle vision scope mount so this will be my setup:

Cricket Compact .22
Delta Optical 4,5-30×50
Eaglevision infinity adjustable scope mount
Eaglevision scope camera mount
Casio Exilim ex-zr2000
Wheeler engineering anti cant indicator
Greenbase CNC bipod

Now I can’t blame anyone but myself if I get a bad group  :8:

Nice camera
It is very usful for tuning finding out where your pellets are stable as u can clearly c the pellets flight if enough light
Very fun i need to start makeing more hunting vidieo

Thanks for the tips! No doubt everything will make sense once I get the camera and see how it all works, Never had a real camera before, just used my dads but now I will have a proper one 😀

Swivel screen is really nice. When bench rest shooting, I find it easier to shoot with the camera and screen tilted up a bit than trying to crouch behind the rifle on the bench… plus this is an excellent way to work on your ballistics… with proper target/lighting, the pellet is visible in the video and gives an excellent feedback on pellet flight and stability.

Excellent points! I went big and took the ex-zr2000 for 250 big ones straight from japan, it will be here in 10 days or so

That’s a good ‘un! If you use the eagle mount, be sure and glue the adapter ring ONLY to the front rotating ring on the camera lens rather than to the camera body. That way, the camera function ring will still be functional and available for use. It is also handy to put the mount on your scope, then screw the camera to the mount by rotating that ring instead of having to mount the camera to the eagle mount and mount that to the scope. This also lets you set your rifle level on it’s bags/bipod, etc, then adjust the camera to align it with the cross hairs on the screen of the camera.

I like the digital aimpoints, cool idea

I think scope cams are really useful and helpful. However, what I am wishing for right now is a scope that can pretty much do it all in terms of having the features that enable the shooter to have all the tools and information to shoot with precision without taking his/her eyes off the scope. I’m talking about a scope that has a built-in laser rangefinder, high-def video recording, level-reader, incline-angle indicator, and a digital aim point (holdover/holdunder) recommendation based on its (scope’s) calculations. All the information will be discretely displayed on some part of the lens. Obviously, this type of scope will have a microprocessor integrated into it and will require the use of a battery, which means more weight being added. But I am willing to accept this drawback as I think it’s worth it over having to take my eyes off the scope, determine range via an external rangefinder, refer to the Chairgun app on my phone, then look at my range card just to determine my aim point(s). The scope should also have the option of toggling off these features to conserve battery life or for those who don’t want to utilize the features on some days. It’s nice to dream, but what do you guys think?

850z I believe but I wish I had got the one where the screen swivels I got this one initially because it has wifi but turns out the wifi only sends pictures and very small clips not large footage I have to use fire wire to export anyways so I might sell this one for 100 bucks and buy the swivel screen

I just got my eaglevision as well! What exilim do you have?

Yep I use masood eagle vision and Casio exlim that I bored out to fit the Swfa
I can also shoulder it normal kinda happy medium I can do both
Attention to detail mr fudd good eye

Finally got my compact all set up -20 moa niteforce mount I decided to stick with what I know sisnce this mount works great on my Vulcan I choose to stay with it also it’s Swfa 12 x
Us optics anti cant
So this is by far the most accurate gun I have believe it’s just easier to shoot because it’s my only .22 but it’s stupid accurate with jsb 18.1
Sorry bad pic my camera sucks

Nice selection of goods. Do you have yours setup with a scope cam? Otherwise why is your scope so far forward?
