Q:

Cricket Shorty! – Kalibrgun Cricket Compact .22

First off, I would like to apologize in advance for the crappy quality of some of the Pictures, the bad ones were taken by a shitty phone camera…

Allright, so I got myself a new gun, I have had it for a couple Days, not even a week yet. The gun is a Kalibrgun Cricket Compact in .22 This gun is new as in it has been laying around since 2013 without use, there is a story behind how I got a hold of it but I am not going to bore you with it, all in all, it would not be possible without Sir Ville.

Ville ordered this gun for me and tuned/fixed it up for me, he polished the barrel, set the reg/valve etc and got it shooting, these are the kind of Groups he got at 42m Indoors, 5 shots:

When he finnished he sent it to me and I have been out to shoot it about 4 times total, like I said, only been in my hands a couple Days.

So far I am very happy with it, I see now why peolpe praise the Compact and Mutant Shorty because for some reason (unexplainable to me) the shorter the gun the more fun. I guess it is like having a tiny mini with 500BHP….

The things I have done includes polishing the hammer and some receiver parts, then lubing them with a great Product called “Archoil AR8300 Severe Duty Synthetic Grease”

The trigger on this gun is absolutely Amazing, much better than on my old .177, not sure why but I am not complaining

This is my setup:

Cricket Compact .22 (63cm long)
Delta Optical Titanium 4,5-30×50
Eaglevision Forward Infinity adjustable mount (FAE-L50)
Wheeler Engineering Anti Cant Indicator
Greenbase CNC Bipod (copy of the Atlas)

By the way, I am LOVING this scope, it weighs about 760 grams or so but with all else (scope mount etc) it weighs over a kilogram, but it is a really great scope.

Lets talk about my results so far, I shot it at 52m and here are best Groups:

4 shot – 0,96cm or 0,38″ CTC (last in the Magazine after two five shot Groups)

5 shot – 1,15cm or 0,45″ CTC

This gun outshoots me by far and when I get more trigger time I do not doubt I will be able to stack a full Magazine under 0,5″ at 52m. But that will take time and practice, once I put 2 tins of pellets through it I will do some more serious chrony work and see what I get, but at around 905 fps with 16gr I get at least 4 mags, but more on that later…

Here is my range, I can get up to 100m but now I am shooting at 52m The stump acts like a table, you slip your legs under it and rest the gun on top. Not by any means the best rest but better than prone IMO.

Hopefully you will join me on my journey with this gun, lots of things to do such as calculate BC get Strelok pro to line up with real World results etc. I am going to quote Ted here and say “I got my fire back guys” this gun has great potential and I am super exited to get back out in the Woods for some more target shooting, I have already taken a Crow with it

Bad photo is not always problem with a camera but… πŸ˜‰ BTW gooood scope πŸ™‚

Very nice! All it needs is a refinish of the stock πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€

Looking forward to seeing some targets :4:

Finally got my compact all set up -20 moa niteforce mount I decided to stick with what I know sisnce this mount works great on my Vulcan I choose to stay with it also it’s Swfa 12 x
Us optics anti cant
So this is by far the most accurate gun I have believe it’s just easier to shoot because it’s my only .22 but it’s stupid accurate with jsb 18.1
Sorry bad pic my camera sucks

:biggrinn: No no ItΒ΄s almost dry tree :biggrinn:

Hey Jan, your going to kill that tree ………. πŸ˜†

~ Greg

Nice pic Jan, and thanks for feedback. With the reg tester I could try a bunch of different settings. I have a shooting rest coming so accuracy tests will hopefully be easier.

I answer instead Greg. I believe he mean 880fps is for 18grain πŸ™‚ Short example: I have (almost) same setting like Greg but I need to be set my regulator to 130bar instead GregΒ΄s 125bar.
I tried reg. pressure from 120-125-130-135bar and best or lets say suitable pressure was 130bar πŸ˜‰ Today I shoot 16.grain pellets (IΒ΄m out of 18grain pellets right now) so best accuracy were 286mps/938fps anything lower – less accuracy.

Oh and Greg, is it 880 fps with 18gr, 16gr or both? I am not a great shot so testing accuracy is difficult for me but at 50m I think my gun prefers 16gr pellets

Nice to hear about the hammer springs.

This is a compact so higher bar is needed due to short barrel. I believe the reg is somewhere between 125-127 bar but I will know once I get the reg tester. Maximum speed for 16gr right now is somewhere 283 mps I think

I’d leave the reg set to where it is 120 bar ?

If you lower the reg pressure you be right at the peak hammer spring setting, but it’s best/works at a slightly lower hammer setting (won’t waste air).
You may also loose shot count on the upper side for the shot curve.

It’s very interesting to experiment and I won’t even take my advice u should try and see it for yourself.

My Cricket 22 shoots it’s best accuracy at 880 fps, so it’s tuned to peck max at 910ish and dialed the HST down to 880 fps for optimum air efficiency.

~ Greg , p.s. the hammer springs are coming in today I think ?

Hello again guys! Today I did some chrony work, I was not altogether happy with my results so I played around with the hammer spring a bit and found a setting that gives me more or less four full magazines worth of shot count.

Please take the bar markings with a grain of salt, I did not pay much attention to it so might not be super accurate from mag to mag but start and end should be ok.

Here are my results with the 16gr FX pellets Start pressure 220 bar

This is average speed 264 mps or 867 fps. High 266 low 262. ES 4 mps or 13 fps

I also calculated my own BC using chairgun and measuring pellet speed at 25m, results:

16gr – 0,0305

18gr – 0,0465

What do you guys think? After Easter some time I will have access to Sir Villes original reg tester so I could tune it myself if I wanted to, do you think I should lower the reg pressure so the hammer spring can be where the speed is maxed out (if you tighten it speed will go down, if you loosen it speed will go down, sweet spot sort of) with this Power setting or should I keep it this way with the hst turned down?

Ok got it thanks it’s 17.7

quote Airgunwhore:

Do u guys know the twist rate for the barrel
I’ll need that info for strelock thanks
