Q:

Different JSB Pellets?

I went to the range today. I wasn’t trying for good groups, just playing around. I tried a couple of 100 yard groups. The first one measured 1.552, the tin was about empty so, I thought that I would try a 10 shot group. After 10 shots, I still had a few left over and decided to shoot them out. 23 shots went into a 1.984″ group. I thought that I would open a new tin and shoot 3 more shots. All three shots grouped to the left and opened the group up from 1.984 to 2.595″!

I was down to about 2000 psi and my reg is set at around 1650 so, the reg wasn’t messing me up. I refilled and shot seven more groups. All of them shot to the left of my zero. On group 6, I adjusted the windage a little and then gave it a little more for group 7. I was getting too dark to shoot any more.

I could be missing something but, It seems that pellets, from the different labeled JSB tins, have a different poi. The barrel had been given a through cleaning about 80-100 shots ago. The only variables were the pellets and a fresh charge.

I just got 12 tins in from Pyramid Air and that shipment had 2 of the differently labeled tins in it. I have one left and will have to do some more testing. The pellets, from last tin that I have left, are shinier that the others. My Starrett calipers measures them to be the same height and dia.

Sounds great Jumetrog… If you get a chance to shoot it further please post
the results…..

Ted, Mam
The group in that speed was sub 1/2 inch at 30 yards.

LMAO, Ted, I am just praying that he doesn’t come back with a sub 1″ group
@ 100yds….lol I reeeeeeeally don’t feel like starting from scratch again….

Jumetrog,

I agree, that is a lot of power. If you post a photo of a good, long-range group,
you will make Jeff and Tedd run back to their early testing notes. 😆

That is really fast Jumetrog… If it is accurate at that speed you will have a
very powerful Matador.

This weekend I just have time to do one string, but I want to tell me what do you thing.

Ahhh, that’s good news Jumetrog.. I am very interested in your results….

Just to say first day testing this gun. and you know, with the first shoots it make me smile 😀 just to test and sight the scope I do a 20 yards groups and very convincing groups. Just after I come from work… This weekend I’ll try 50 yards in this actual stock setting.

It is worth a try. My Marador didn’t like the Eun Jins or the Barracudas very well. The more that I slowed the JSBs down, the better they shot. The sweet spot for them was 920 to 960fps.

I was looking for the most accurate combo that I could get and, for my gun, it turned out to be the JSBs at 950fps.

Your gun could turn out to like the Barracudas better. All you can do is give them all a try. I do a lot of target shooting as well as hunting. I really like to shoot starlings and sparrows at 80-100 yards so, I was looking for the best accuracy.

If you are after larger game, at closer ranges, the Barracudas or Eun Jins could be the answer.

Ed has been trying to get JSB to make a heavier .25 cal. pellet. If they come out with one, and the accuracy is good, I will have to turn my Matador back up to Ed’s settings.

Please let us know what you come up with, and post some groups.

Look’s like I’m going to try the Barracudas and do some
test slowing the velocity to maybe to 950’s to see if the gun can do tied
groups in 50 yards. My Matador is in the 1080’s with Kings. What do you
think?

All I can say is, welcome the the world of never satisfied… 😆 All you can
do is adjust, shoot, and test to see exactly what kind of range the gun has Jumetrog..
I wish I had a magic formula for ya but these guns are so new that you have
to actually do the adjustment to see what the results are before you can
understand what you have…. I can tell you how to slow it down but I can not
tell you exactly how much it will slow down with each adjustment… Do 1/4
turns out on the hammer spring adjuster and shoot full strings, refill, and
shoot at least another half string before you do any other adjusting… It is
very time consuming but, it is the only way to do it….

Jumetrog, I agree with Mam, the best pellets, if you are using the stock settings, would be the Barracudas. Your gun will probably shoot them around 980fps, that is still too fast but, they shot far better, at least in my gun, than the Eun Jins. My gun, with the stock settings, shot the JSBs at 1040fps. JSBs don’t like going that fast!

After Mam and I turned our guns down, the JSBs were a lot more accurate than the Barracudas or the Eun Jins. With the stock settings and out to 50 yards all three of the pellets would work for small game.

Hi there Mam,
I’m not skillful whit guns , and considering that my Edgun is new, for the
moment, I don’t want to move his internals, till I just make some shots and a
few hunting. 😕 . In the actual setting what would be the most accurate pellet?

That is a tough question Jumetrog…. I have been looking for targets that I
shot when I pulled the gun out of the box and I can not find them…. I would
have to say the the Barracudas or Eun Jins would be the best as they should
be flying less than 1,000FPS… I know for sure my gun shot the JSB Kings at
around 1,080FPS and that was just too fast…. It just depends on how far you
plan to shoot but I would advise the heavier pellets….

This thread has a lot of information…. You might find what you are looking

Jumetrog, the adjuster will run out of threads and fall out before you can
reduce it enough…. There is a fine line between too little and too much
hammer spring…. I would say that the hammer spring adjuster has a range
of about 100FPS…. Just for instance. If you start out at 1,070FPS, you may
be able to reduce it to 1,000 or increase it to 1,100… If you were to try to
increase to over 1,100FPS you would actually start to see a drop in FPS at that point
and you would start waisting air…. If you tried to reduce it below 1,000FPS
the adjuster would be completely unscrewed and fall out..
