Q:

Eagle Vision Scope Cam mount-Hawke and Cricket

Hey gang,
I would really like to order one of the EagleVision camera mounts for my set ups. I’m tired of messing around with the cheezy Seben/Orion mount. Anyone ever order one directly from the manufacturer or somewhere besides AoA. I just cannot bring myself to order from these guys. Any help would be appreciated.
Thx,
Charlie

well gang I took the .25 Cricket out and did a bit of paper shooting on Saturday before the rains hit again. I’m real impressed with this mount! It is dead nuts solid. Once mounted, I was able to drive around and shoot at stuff with the camera in place similar to my earlier trips when I used the Sebin/Orion mount except, the crosshair was always centered and did not vary any. The way I mounted it, I’m not even using the 2 sliding sleeves. I epoxied the camera mount ring to the lens ring on the camera, then threaded the scope adapter to the scope eyepiece, screwed the proper tube to the scope, then using the front ring that rotates to screw the adapter ring onto the other end of the tube.

It was very easy to manipulate the rifle with the camera mounted. After shooting paper, I went out and got after the turtles… after a while of shooting, all of a sudden something happened that really ruined my day… had nothing to do with the mount, but my gun started shooting WAY to the left, like the LDC was clipping the pellets… took the LDC off, and right back on. Not sure sure what happened. I must have bumped the gun somewhere along the way. I tried a few things unsuccessfully, then the thunderstorms moved back in so I had to shut it down early and head back home. Hope to get to play with my gun some this week so I can get serious shooting it this coming weekend.

The camera mount flat did it’s job! I love it.

one of these days, I’m gonna figger out how to make these dang iPhone pics display correctly!! :angrymob:

Most of my fun shooting last year was out the window of my truck. Now that I have a new Honda Pioneer-700-4, I will be shooting from it… it is easy to shoot from a vehicle with the Primos bipod version of their trigger sticks. With a camera, I’m thinking it will be even easier since I won’t have to worry about how I mount the gun… we’ll see.

Now that I don’t have to mess around with trying to keep the Seben/Orion mount adjusted, I can see camera shooting a LOT more. When I first got started, I found it easier to shoot for accuracy with the camera from the bench. I could stand up behind the camera and sight using the camera screen rather than crouched behind the gun and adjusting cheek weld, hold, etc. With the gun on sandbags or bag/bipod combo or later on, on the dead shot field pod (magnum version), all I had to do was watch the screen and adjust the gun and squeeze the shot off. Shooting with a white background and the sun behind and off to one side, it was also very easy to watch the flight quality of the pellet. It just got to be too much of a hassle to mess with that mount. I think I’ve solved that problem… If it can get some shooting in between all the rain showers expected this weekend, I’ll report back…

The last video Ted did with bobcat was very nice. I had mine mounted yesterday and I must give Ted credit as I hate shooting with it. The first thing is you either have to dedicate gun for camera shooting and move scope forward and shoot from stationary spot. My kind of shooting is very mobile.

Heck I learned all this video stuff from Ted. Just a dang shame we don’t have that resource any longer since his sell-out… Guess everybody has to make a livin’ somehow.

Yea, at the time I bought that camera, red was the only color in stock. They are pretty much now available in Black too.

The screen is very usable outdoors in bright sun. It’s tough if the sun is high and behind you so that it shines directly on the screen, but when aiming, most of the time my head or body is between the sun and the camera so it still works well. I’ve got a ton of turtle heads exploding in slo mo that if I could post videos, I’d put up here. I don’t do youtube… don’t need all the anti-everything crowd’s grief. The best slo-mo’s are actually when the sun is a little lower and behind and to one side slightly. It lights the pellet up real good and that camera on 240 frames/sec. with my editing software will capture pellet flight really nice.

That red camera looks really stealth! J/K

I really like the flip-up LCD on the Casio ZR1000s. Allows for flexible shots off a bi-pod. Can’t imagine shouldering something with all those gadgets attached. How’s the LCD outside in daylight? Washed out reticle or still usable?

It is a Casio Exilim Zr1000… Any of the newer models with a model# of 1000 or higher, I think has that tilt screen.

I tried to figure a way to mount it to my Chinese made (Primary Arms branded) FFP scope, but none of the other adapters and tubes would fit the eye piece. I will have to do a little research on that and figure something out. That scope is on my .22 and is the one I like to plink with. The .25 is heavy and usually used to dispatch larger targets such as pigs, coons, nutria, and the like… BUT it can smack a sparrow pretty good too…

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Pics. I hope to do some shooting with it this weekend.

I love the tilt screen! …makes bench shooting easier.

Sure wish I could figger out why most of my pics are rotated sideways! :angrymob:

Nice. Exactly what model camera is that ?

Salt
Your set up looks way cool.
One of these day I am going to get around to the camera scope thang,,,
I really like it,
TAB would ban me for the slauter of sparrows and euro doves,
So many toys,
So little time.
I think you guys that do the videos, need to get a kick back from the dealers or a discount on your pellets, You help sell a lot of guns…

I got mine mounted up and it WORKS PERFECT!!! X-Hairs are pretty much dead center when camera is directly connected to the scope with the adapter and correct size tube… didn’t even need the extension sleeve. I’ll try to post up some pics of it mounted and of what the screen looks like.

I think I’M IN BUSINESS!! Gonna be bad on the turtles this weekend… ’bout all I’ve got to shoot at right now. Most of my hunting grounds are still under water with all the Trinity River flooding… 🙂

I’ll see if I can get mine mounted too. Will mount on SWFA. So extra work is needed

Good deal! I sure like the ability to remove my scope if need be (for maintenance) then put it back on and it’s still sighted in… Maybe not exact each time, but close enough for hunting purposes… couple shots at paper and I’m right back to same hole shooting… Hope to get to ascertain if the mounts will work this evening. I should be able to do that without shooting even.

More later,
Charlie

Charlie I have the casio 1200 model and will try some rubber bands before I do anything. I’ll wrap rubber bands around the three screws next to camera and see how it works
