EdGun .30 Accuracy
Guys, how are the .30 Ed’s working out. Lots of reports on the .30 ED but nothing on the accuracy folks are getting. Is there something to be read into this?

My R3M in .22 doesn’t have that spacer neither…this is the first time I have have completely disassembled the reg/valve assy, so I can’t say if this is the norm or its been left out?

No my delrin I had in stock was not the right size so I just pulled the metal out of another spare stem and pressed mine from the 30 into it. I need to have someone with a cnc lathe make up a couple hundred of the delrin plastic pieces for us. I thought it curious that the 30 had no washer under the spring where it seats in the spacer, anyone else notice this arrangement, new to me…

My 30 cal is shooting great and I have a thousand shots through it so it is time to switch back to the Cricket for some pesting. I went through nearly seven lbs. of 30 cal JSBs. I purchased 36 tins of 30 cal pellets and 32 were 44.75s. I only have 25 tins of the 44s left. 😯 I will have to try the 50s for accuracy the next time I take it out.

Hemm, The aluminum only replaces the Plastic portion of the stem but it has to be cut for a Delrin insert to seal against the aluminum valve. and the stainless shaft gets re-used.

Nah I think the part will be very similar in weight and it will make very little to no difference.. besides its only a matter of adjusting your HST to suit the new poppets dwell time..
I am going to just spin up a new delrin one tonight and get a replacment coming from Tony too. I can work on the stainless/aluminum/delrin replacment in the background
Wow . You guys are right on top of this. I don’t have many issues with my Matadors but the valve stems are definitely the weakest link in these guns I think or on many PCPs for that matter.
Ride – I hate to even say this but Steve (and Ernest probably does as well) at WWAG knows all about the switch from the combo stems to the all metal ones for KalibrGun and knows the issue inside out. He may be a valuable source of information for switching to an all aluminum or alloy one and what the issues are. Besides he is a real nice guy to talk to. 🙂

Hmmm . . . I would be worried that the hammer will peen the aluminum and also that it would be more brittle than steel. But then, I don’t have a shop or the equipment to do this, so anything that advances the efforts here is good.
Ive made many poppet valves and had full intentions of making an alloy one with a plastic or rubber sealing face for my R3 but my original one is yet to break..
Id say the .25 and .30cals are subjected to a lot more punishment than my .22cal
If it is not to cold in the shop this evening I am going to get on the lathe and do this…I have some small aluminum bar stock I think is just right, do you think weight in aluminum is a consideration, should I drill some weight out of the 4.45mm aluminum stem end to keep it down. I am working with Tony to get a new one OEM as well.

PS: I hear you can get to the valve in other guns in 15 minutes, what could be easier, I had this out and measuring my stem in 5 minutes.
I had the same problem and I solved it by making a brass stem with delrin inserts.
