edgun barrel
hey guys im new to this sight,and kinda new to airguns ive owned a few and currently own a daystate airwolf mct 22cal and just picked up an edgun 22 cal long version second hand with a little over a thousand pellets put through it my question is what are your thoughts or experience on doing a bore paste job on these barrels or would that be a bad idea, im wondering if smoothing them up a little may keep the barrel from leading up as quickly any thoughts or experience welcomed thanks

Thanks for the link, Endo. I need to talk to Fannman some more about this issue, we were shooting together when the problem surfaced. I’m about to order a carbon fiber tank so air will be less of a problem as I test with this gun. Fannman went all out and bought a 4500psi compressor and carbon fiber tank for himself, we won’t have fill problems. We’re gonna set up a 100yd range and play with the adjustments on these rifles until they hold no more secrets….. 😀

I don’t know whether your description is same as what I found on POI change with pressure (but it may be shooter’s problem) as posted in this link http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=223425#223425. Fannman said he improved the shift of POI in his gun by playing around the scope mount and barrel/tube bracket in the link above. Hopefully, this is helpful.

To carry the thread forward a little, I bought Fannman’s Edgun from him while he waits on the next shipment to come in. Fear not, he has his AirWolf and FX400 to keep him occupied while waiting. He got the 18.1 JSB’s running very well at around 910fps as was suggested, and that’s what I’m shooting in it, too. Haven’t had much time to run it over the Chrony, I’ve been wearing the Starlings and Sparrows out. The gun has been exceedingly accurate until today, when it seemed to have a windage shift of about 1″ to the left, easily corrected by a scope setting change. I wonder has anyone experienced such an accuracy anomaly with their Edgun, and could mine have been temperature-induced (first time shooting in sub-40 degree temps, no wind)?

Hey I understand, I really do. Having ‘your baby’ (company) and accepting help on them is always a problematic issue for people.
I’m an investment capitalist. I’d like to see this succeed and be able to get into an innovative product. I looked into a CNC machine and industrial space to do metal work. I even showed a few friends at a local Gun manufacture (LWRC) to get their opinion on difficulty, money, and timeframe. They gave me some great advice and put me in the direction of some good sources for equipment, wood, aluminum, and even suggested a chemical company for a full synthetic stock. A carbon fiber idea was tossed around also for the tank and shroud. Luxfer is reasonable in their custom tank stocks. Just think, an aluminum carbon fiber wrapped integrated tank.
Again, I am not trying to take your idea from you, only trying to ENABLE you to be innovative without the stress of additional manufacturing.
Now to ask you directly –
1. Is the Full Auto project still on? I’d love to see more pictures or a detailed video of it. I am super curious about the magazine to hold 500 rounds. I can only imagine a magazine like the P90.
2. How are the Semi Auto kits coming also?
The barrels at R3 and R 2.5 made in this year are made based on the special order by LW, the only thing you need after 2 000 shots to clean it as much as you can and then enjoy.
Skygear, thank for the offer but I am afraid I am out of any investments, due to the system I’ve build, I tried but we found that it either will not be interesting for an investor or for me.

I did try a FX ST blank on my R2.5 25 cal. It didn’t shoot as well as the BSA barrel that I had on the gun. It also seemed to need cleaning every 50 shots or so. I took it off and smoothed the in lead and crown and gave it another try. The accuracy didn’t improve any and I was running out of hunting time.
I put the BSA barrel back on. If it was earlier in the year, I would have tried tuning the ST barrel more.
The BSA barrel made an improvement on the R2.5 25 cal. That gun shoots really well now and I can consistently make head shots on ground squirrels and doves out to 125 yards with it when using a bench rest or the tri pod setup than I made for it.
I just bought a 25 cal BSA Lone Star that AOA had on close out. AOA has had the gun for over a year and they have lost their import rights. It cost me $425 with shipping.
Gammo is now importing BSA guns. I bought the Lone Star just for the barrel, as after 8-2010, Gammo has forced BSA to reduce the quality of their barrels so the production would increase. I think/hope that the Lone Star has one of the good barrels on it.
Ed has made some big improvements, at least in my opinion, with the R3. He also has had LW make the R3’s barrels to his specs. My R3 already shoots as well as my tuned R2.5, with the BSA barrel. I am hoping that the BSA barrel will make an improvement on the R3. I don’t think that the BSA will make an improvement but, I have to try it and see!
I wish that I would have got the R3 in April instead of September! I really hate cold windy weather and snow!

It sounds like you have a chrony so, it would be easy to see if your gun shoots better at 890-910 than at 955. Just keep track of how much you have to turn the hammer spring screw out. If the accuracy does not improve, just turn the screw back in.
When I got my 22 standard, I tried a bunch of different pellets and speeds. I settled on the JSB 18.1s at 890.
When I got my R2.5 25 cal, being the slow learner that I am, I went thru the whole process again before settling on the JSB 25.4s. I shot them for quite a while at 955 (I was addicted to the power) before I figured out that if I couldn’t hit what I was shooting at, all that extra power wasn’t doing me any good!
When I got my R3 25 cal, I just set it to shoot the JSBs at 895 and left it at that.
The diablo shaped pellet has been out for a LONG time and there is a lot of documentation out there about losing accuracy at speeds of much over 910.
@synopsys – yeah I have been watching this project for years! I didn’t really have a need for one before, just a want. Now that I’ve matured a little bit more, I se the benefits of having one of his vs some of the other ones in the open market.
I have watched TheEdgun & EdGunUSA youtube channels from start to finish and am subscribed to them both
Honestly, I’d like to make a proposition to ED about getting a franchise setup here in the USA. I feel I could source all the equipment locally to start building them.
Stocks could be sourced from CHINA (milled and finished) or at a local shop, or I could get a CNC machine to get the ball rolling..
I like solid investments and projects I believe in. This is one of those things I want to succeed. Ed has some great Ideas and projects in the works that I would love to get in on the ground floor on.

For hunting larger animals the 25 is the way to go but for an all arounder (birds and animals) the 22 is the bomb.

I had a TalonSS and eventually went to a Condor tank and 24″, 25cal barrel. Wow!!! I grew up shooting the 177 break barrels and swore by the caliber because so many air guns were underpowered when I was young. Things have sure changed and the 22 and 25 calibers have lots of power now. I found that for longer shooting (50 yards+) the 25 had a slight edge in windy conditions.
Can’t go wrong with an EdGun in any caliber really… 😎
Have you checked out the EdGunUSA channel on youtube? Ted shoots a 22 and it’s downright abusive on birds at long distances. I usually watch all his EdGun videos at least once a month they are so good.

I want the .22 and according to TONY I’m on the list but its a couple months wait. Actually he said “A few for the R3” theres a lot of R2.5’s in transit.
If you feel the .25 is the way to go, I might just get 2 then. I like the Standard size in the length. I go to a lot of remote places and this size would fit nicely in my pack. The .25 would be for shorter trips
I might High Polish the black parts. I feel HP against the Wallnut stock would look sharp

I am trying to get a fiber tank too. My small scuba tank just not have enough energy to keep my new Edgun happy. I notice you are in TX too, and we should shoot together some time if we are not far in distance. PM me if you need more information on the change of POI. I am going to test this issue more after getting a bigger tank. 😆
