Edgun R3 .22 Just Arrived
Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I have followed this forum for almost a year now, and this is my first post.
Just received my long-waiting Edgun from Tony this afternoon. It came with a well-packed black gun case. The gun has “tiger grains” in both sides of the stock javascript:emoticon(‘:o’). The series # is 0003. It is “Made in Estonia”. I scoped (Hawke HK4030) it right away and sighted it in at 33 yards with JSB RS (the pellets I currently have and are my best pellet for Benj Disco that I shoot with). Trigger is a bit heavy compared to my Mac1-Disco with trigger mod. I only shot ~30 pellets before dark. Will try more tomorrow if weather allows…

I bet that’s what all the ladies say.
Wow! That’s a beautiful piece of wood. I just developed an interest in the Edgun. 😉
Hoot,
The color is much lighter than my Disco for sure, and it maybe became even more lighter due to the lighting conditions when I took the pictures. Nevertheless, the finishing is smooth and excellent. Agree, I also hope the manual clips will be available soon in here.

Endo
Is it me, or were some of the other stocks a bit darker in color?
Makes no difference, as they are all beautifully grained and handsome pieces of wood. No one likes a price increase, but when you compare the new stock to the old painted ones, a lot of people would have gladly paid extra to upgrade to this new, and excellent taste, in wood. So don’t think of it as a price increase. Think of it as a premium stock upgrade for the few extra hundred!
Every time I think Ed can’t get it any better, he gets it better.
I do wish Ed could locate some after-market manual clips and resell them to us. It’s really difficult for those of us half a world away to lay hands on some of those very nice little manual clips made in Eastern Europe.

how long did you waiting for it?

Thanks Ta. I am also in the list of R3 .25. I believe I have waited for 9-10 months on .22.
Tedd, I will be in your list of O-ring ordering once you are ready. Thanks for providing such detail on trigger adjustment.
It is tempting to make trigger adjustment right away, but I think I should get to know the gun better before changing anything. So, I did some more shooting this morning. Weather condition was excellent (5-7 miles wind). I found it shoots more consistent at lower pressure ~160-110 bar in general. I have some JSB Heavy and Exact left over and a bunch of RS. I tried them all, and Heavy is more consistent throughout with a better accuracy than Exact. RS only shoots well at lower pressure (110-130 bar), I think it is too light for the gun. I may need to slow the gun down to shoot RS. I think Edgun is out of regulator around 120 bar, I am not srue. I haven’t cleaned the barrel and done any chrony yet. I just wanted to know how it shoots just out of the box. I have a Bulls Bag Rest and it is great for Disco but not suitable for Edgun. I need to improve the bench setting for Edgun. I have run out of the air and the diver shop is closed until first week of January… I have to shoot my Disco by then since the remaining air in the tank can feed it well by tethering.
Great explanation, thanks.
Endo, I plan on ordering more O ring kits sometime in Jan.
I will start a new thread here when I get ready to order them. The whole kit isn’t really needed, most guys would get by with just probe, barrel end (R2.5 only) and if you shoot a whole lot, the 2 regulator O rings.
The whole kit is handy to have though. You won’t ever need any extra O rings for a Matador.
Acourvil, backing the rear screw out, or removing it, and turning the front screw in untill the gun won’t cock and then turning it out some doesn’t make for a single stage trigger. Turning the front screw in causes the hammer sear to be almost released. When the trigger is pulled, the front trigger screw will slide a little on the trigger rod pivot bar before the rod gets pushed forward any more. This sliding will feel the same as a “first stage”, it takes hardly any effort. You will feel where the screw starts to move the pivot bar and that movement becomes the “second stage”. The further the front screw is backed out, after the gun won’t cock, the more “first stage” you will end up with. As the screw is backed out the “second stage” effort will also increase.
You don’t want the rear trigger screw or the rear of the trigger to touch the trigger rod pivot bar. If it does, you lose a lot of the mechanical advantage and the trigger pull goes up a lot.
Backing out/removing the rear screw and turning the front screw in turns the trigger into more of a target trigger. It is very easy to make it too touchy! I can get the Matador’s trigger set down to 320 gns but, it is way too touchy for me when set there. I like 400 or so. I find that if I set it any lighter, the gun will sometimes go off as I am taking up the “first stage” slack and I will not be ready for it to fire.
Setting the trigger up this way is not how Ed designed it to be set. The Matadors were designed for hunting and the two trigger screws can be set very well for that.
I am just posting this because guys asked how to lighten up the trigger more and the one trigger screw setup works for me.
Your mileage may vary! 😆
congrats… 😛

You don’t want the rear screw to ever touch the trigger rod linkage.
That gives you a single stage trigger, right?
Thanks Trygve. I am happy to see your guns were finally arrived and have you reduced the trigger weight to your likes? I will do mine soon based on Tedd’s instruction.
Thanks Kazzz. How’s your newly tuned Eddy? More accurate?

I like the original gray color better, it looks more unique and fits to the style of the gun. But the new stock also looks great.
