Q:

Evil Ninga/School Marm/Vicious Nun

In the past, YN referred folks to do thier research, read past posts, learn from what has already been written. He was not as polite as some would have preferred, but he was effective.

So where is the Yellow Ninja/School Marm/Vicious Nun with a ruler we all loved and respected? Must we simple folk do his dirty work?

If he’s abdicated his duties as the HEAVY do we need to find a new bastard at large?

Appologies to YN. You’ve done an admirable job. It’s my belief you’re just fed up with answering the same quesions, the same questions, the same questions, the same questions. etc Ad Infinium.

is the purpose of tog to help other members? even those who choose not help themselves?

I can see both sides of the coin.

Some questions about AF guns are “static”. IOW, the answers are written in stone and they don’t change, and they’re best answered by checking the Quick Ref. (for example, assembly/disassembly of the gun)

But because the gun lends itself to so much tweaking, modding and fine tuning, there are far more questions that are “fluid”… that is, answers are continually evolving as folks do their R&D. What might seem to be “obvious” this week goes out the window next week because someone has discovered something new… and by asking the question, folks are more inclined to be prompted to post what they’re discovering.

My dos centavos.

I don’t consider myself a noob any longer. But I feel we should try to help those that just found this place and ask the same old tired questions. I know I did it when I first got here. Hell sometimes I still do it. I think the best thing to do is if you see a question that you’ve seen a hundred times before is to either try to help the person or leave it alone and someone will be along soon enough to try to help them. A note to those of you that are noobs. If this place scares you away, I don’t know how you survive in the real world, because this place and these people are absolutely polite compared to some places I’ve seen. Some places, go in there and ask a tired old same o same o question, you will get eaten alive Lol.

Some may think his work here is finished (shades of the Lone Ranger….) but IOM there’s work yet to do.

Then again, other forums need him too, perhaps worse than we do. For instance, check out the Yellow Forum this morning. Some guy wants somebody else to do his homework (‘where is the best/cheapest place to buy CF tube?) so bad that after waiting less than four hours he opens a new thread on exactly the same topic!

Lotsa folks have come to expect others to do for them, and now we have a president promoting exactly that. Sad and scary at the same time.

How about YN for President? Maybe we can get Dirty Harry for VP?

You guys are jaded with this whole thing huh? 😛 Don’t get me wrong, I understand what you’re saying.

However, being a noob myself, I think that in certain cases it might be beneficial to the forum overall that some questions do get asked again from time to time. Hey who knows, someone may have a new opinion, aspect, or idea concerning old topics. This keeps things fresh, and gives us all a chance to chime in to help each other if we can. I know the TAG is a forum or library so to speak and not a chat room, but it is nice to have people help you on a more personal level.

I know us noobs can be a nuisance 🙄 , but the newbie you help out today may help you in the future 😀 or maybe not.

As always, I look forward to your opinions fellas, take it ez.

I think 99% of questions can be answered with the following….

1/ use the search

2/ use your gun and find out

… unfortunatly people get hurt pussy’s (and not the kind that harry shoots) when you tell them the above… so I quit telling em.

I miss the days of singling a member out for weeks and making small digs at them, until it got too much and blew up into a big free for all with people taking sides and throwing pies…. but those times are gone

Whats dial-up? 😆

I had to change my ways when a current mod said that I was driving member’s away (only the weak ones….)

Its too bad you have to state the obvious to a noob.

Wonder if the forum code can be set to require a minimum amount of posts to be READ from the quick reference section before they are allowed to post for the first time.

How about a 48 hour waiting period from the time you register til your first post? When they are notified of the waiting period, direct them to the quick reference section. Might help.

I think there must be 100 posts asking how many shots per fill, what tophat setting, what pellet, ect…

I probably did the same thing when I was new though, my excuse was dialup LOL.

Is YN akin to that American Soldier I’m so fond of? You know…. telling it like it is. YN is cool across the board. Good to go in my book.

This has been discussed before. Do a F N Search before you post you, you that’s what you are!

Fatman; I’ll take the fluff off of it. We need a directive voice. A man who is a bit pissed off with the world who directs your new members to do thier research.

And no it’s not me. I don’t want the job. But there are those out there that would be capable. Suggestions? AKULA

Only got one thing to say. YN only says what others are thinking.
