EZ no drilling Harris Bi-pod mount
I was under the impression that the reason more people don’t use the harris style bipods is modification/drilling/tapping for mounting. In setting my first one up tonight I found an easy way I don’t recall anyone mentioning before. Anyone ever think about a standard sling swivel thread? 10-32, same as the barrel bushing screws.
If I’m just slow and didn’t notice, forgive me. Just an option that seems so easy it may have been overlooked by others too. Otherwise here’s a simple 1-2-3 method that requires no drilling or tapping.
1. relocate foregrip to use front triggerguard screw (slightly longer screw recommended). Note some guns already have the grip in this position.
2. Remove front/lower barrel bushing grub screw and replace with 10-32 threaded sling swivel stud (the white plastic washer will compress enough to allow proper alignment of the hole in the stud). May require shortening the stud threads depending on which threaded stud you buy.
3. Mount your bipod.
So easy even a Langman could do it 😛 😛 😛

Bought it at Wally, quality is good, 39 bucks. I think pricing is due to WMs buying power, not lack of quality. Saw the same one at a local gun shop at a price of 69.95 😯 😯 😯

Sitting position, using the bipod, 25yd, little/no wind.
Looks like accuracy is not affected by the mounting.
Further testing on Wednesday. Was too late in the evening for good chrony numbers, too much shade on my shooting area.
Is this the wall mart bi pod or a real Harris? If it a replica how is the construction?

Boy, what you just said! Brownell’s is a dangerous place to wonder into witha a credit card fer sure.
The printed catalogs are just as dangerous. A few post it sheets, a cold beer and a warm afternoon is gonna cost you…….

I buy em 3-4 pkgs at a time. I cant look to far into their website or I will never recover.

But their $10 shipping is a killer if you are getting a pkg of studs.
True enough, which is why you should always have a few other ‘must haves’ in mind…..tools, for instance.
Then again a dozen studs delivered to your house at less than two dollars each beats the $3 each at the gunstore you have to drive to and the $8.95 at Walmart mentioned above.
The neat part is you have a choice, you don’t have to shop there, Midway and others also carry ’em. And have other neat stuff……

Like I said above, watch out for the ones that aren’t threaded all the way if that’s important to you.

What’s wrong with you doing it and posting the results for us?
Unfortunately,,Midway won’t ship to International retail customers so,,,is anyone going to buy a pack of these mounts and be willing to ship a couple to the UK ? I use a B_Square type bi-pod at the moment but would like to fit a 15/23 Harris for sitting shots. If anyone can help,,please let me know the cost/pp/etc . 😀
