Fighting with the condor AGAIN
Well, after a few months of perfect performance it was about time for a new screw up, so be it.
I can’t get the thing to hold a zero to save my life. Shoots accurately, but not in the same spot.
For example. I shot it this morning at a crow, missed a very easy shot. So I shot it at paper to see if I just pulled or something. It was about 1″ down left. So I sighted it in and got it back to perfect. Shooting all through the same hole at 25 yards.
Went to shoot a squirrel a bit later, missed again. So again, I shot paper. I was now off about 1.5″ up right. 😕 😕 😕 That has happened a couple of times now.
The gun is sitting on a table between these shots. No moving around. Just sight in and leave it sitting, then go back to it and shoot again.
Could inconsistent velocity or something do this? Should I play with the tophat and power wheel? Shroud clipping? Leapers scope going out? Something else?

What Mike said. Course I have a POS scope on mine. But it works.
Lama, I use to think it was a waist of time and money putting a better scope on a AirGun. (But then again I never had an AirGun with this kind of power!) And I do get a lot of flack for having the scope I do on a BB gun. 😆
But the truth is, I shoot it thousands of rounds a year. Hell. Some times a month- WEEK!!!. I shoot my power burners a hell of a lot less. SO==== I want the equipment on the gun I shoot the most to be good. Not so-so good. It makes sense to me in my demented state. 😆 It just makes no sense to me to put the best equipment on a gun I rarely shoot, and the least I use the most. I could care less if the projectile is pushed by air or chemical reaction. I enjoy shooting period. And junk equipment just takes away from what I am trying to accomplish.
Now go and get a decent scope for it ya tight wad! 😉

Scope is buggered.
Warm that thing up with a hair dryer a bit and see what it does.
Also tap on the adjustment knobs with your finger and see if POI changes.
I know Lama’s usimg HPA, but I see this all the time on CO2. Takes the 24″ .22 barreled talon 8+ shots before I get consistent results. The slower and more steady the rate of fire – the more consistent the POI. A little to fast and I can tell the barrel is cooling down too much as the shots move right – for a while – then come back to center, maybe a tad left and low. Does this even on a bench rest and regarless of what pellet I’m using. Only real variable is temprature. Just so happens mine is getting cold from the inside out…
i think temperature change really makes a difference with impact,also with the tank pressure affecting velocity which changes impact.

I had a similar problem, GTBJ and WalkonKing helped me sort it out. I was clipping pellets. It was POS shroud (Ace Hardware type) that I was trying. GTBJ helped me figure it out even though it was not his shroud!

I don’t really think it’s clipping either, just something I threw out there.
The turrents weren’t tightened down, but they are now. Hopefully that’ll fix it.
It did go from hot to cold. It got hot in the house, so I opened the doors and it cooled way down. Now that they are shut it’s heated up pretty well again.
I have a few others scopes I’ll try. It sucks that I don’t have a really good scope I can put on it. The good scopes are on firearms and dialed in very well so I’m not pulling them off. But I do have some other cheaper ones so I may try those tomorrow, kinda dark now.
I cranked the tophat out a bit, it’s shooting very hard now, but it seems on target. I just shot it and it is dead on. Hopefully it’ll stay like that. I guess we’ll find out tomorrow morning.
One of these day I’m going to break down and get a real scope for it. At least that way I’ll KNOW it isn’t the scope.
How long since cleaning the barrel?
check breech O rings! Run a chrony String.
What pellets: chrony would tell the story.

Got another scope to see if it does the same thing? I would think if it was clipping the shots would’nt group.
Oh boy…
Unless it went from cold to hot during the time you sighted in the first time, I would suspect the scope…
Were the elev & wind dial locks tightened?

Oh trust me, I would put a better scope on it if I had one or could afford a new one.
The varix3 scopes I have don’t work. One has no AO and is focused for 100 yards, so I put it on the .22lr. The other has it, but it doesn’t focus down under 50 yards, so again, no good for the condor. One day I’ll get something good to put on it. For now I’ll fight with this one.
It hasn’t changed today, shot the same spot. It must have been temperature messing with it. It sits next to a nearly always open window so it goes with the outside temp, which changes a lot here from day to night, so maybe that was the problem. Whatever it was, it seems to be ok now.
Stupid crappy scopes. I need something awesome for it!
