Q:

FML, what happened?

Ever since a got this whole setup I have had nothing but problems filling my tank. I have had 3 or 4 hoses bubble up near the connector. On the first fill or two I had the 4.5k burst disk rupture on my JDS Airman regulator. The tank has since been filled about 5 times with a cheap Ninja paintball coiled fill hose which kinks after about 3.5k.

I started doing some upgrades on the gun recently and just received Randy’s Extreme Valve and got it mounted on my ETaC-Reg. Before work yesterday I filled the tank to 4500 psi. I left the tank filled and sitting on my bed before I walked out the door. At some point in time last night shit got wild. Apparently something on the tank started to leak at a pretty fast rate causing all sorts of ruckus in my room. The tank was flying all over the place, smacking stuff left and right before finally landing under the bed. Thankfully the tank is covered in a wrap so it wasn’t damaged. Unfortunately I can’t say the same thing for my new valve 😥

What the fuck is going on here? Neither one of the burst disk have burst, and all of the o-rings appear to be in decent shape.

UPDATE :

The 5k burst disk blew out of the new valve which leads me to believe there is a problem with the regulator. Right now I am awaiting a return call from JDS Airman.

In the mean time, I just got my package from tagdagger in the mail which contained his old 3k regulator/ETaC which is the same stuff I have on my setup. I pulled the shim stacks from both regulators and they are certainly setup different.

Randy at RL is taking my valve back to repair it. I will find out what JDS is willing to do to help me out.

As much trouble as I have had in the last week or two with this gun, I have high hopes for getting all of my issues resolved thanks to all of the helpful people on this forum.

Randy, Tony, and Doug, YOU GUYS ARE FUCKING AWESOME, and I really appreciate all of the help that you have given me.

The hoses are already being returned, I have used 3 different hoses from 3 different suppliers and they all did the same thing except for the cheap Chinese coiled hose which just tangles up. I would love to blame it all on the hoses, but the hose had nothing to do with that tank leaking air last night as everything was disconnected and it was nothing more than the tank, regulator, etac, and valve just sitting on the bed.

I’m going to contact JDS Airman later and see WTF they think.

You need to take those hoses back to where you got them and show them what is happening.

I really don’t see how the pressure is getting over 4500 at any given point in time. The gauge never gets to 4500 psi and the shoebox shuts off around 4400 – 4500. Something is seriously wrong though. I won’t even attempt to fill this thing back up until I figure out what is going on. I guess I’ll be stuck waiting on a new valve anyways. I should have known something was up when I filled the tank the first time and that 4.5k burst disc blew out. I was walking to check the mailbox at the time and got around the corner of the block when I heard it blow. Didn’t know exactly what it was until I got back closer to the house and realized it was coming from my garage.

Something is not filling correctly and you built the pressure up waaay to fuggin high. Or got some chinese hose crap.

Glad you ok!

I

Parker Parflex, 6000 psi working pressure. I had a fill whip from Ninja Paintball that did the same thing.

The only thing all of these issues have in common is the regulator.

Holy Fuck!

What are your hoses rated at and where did you get them?
