Q:

From Russia With Love (or is it Estonia) – Edgun .25 Std

From no plans on getting one to in my hands in 5 days. πŸ™‚ Hawke Sidewinder 8-32×56 arrived too and nearly 200 bar of Russian/Estonian air! πŸ˜† Ok – Ed I need a few T-Shirts…. 😎 It’s lighter than I thought it would be. Manuf date 2/23/2013. Excellent packaging. The gun is flawless physically as far as what I can see w/o disassembly.

coda,
was that an overstocked standard that tony had or did you order and wait?

if he had short .25s ready to go i’d be a cpl thou poorer right now. lol

That exact problem is described in a thread somewhere. lol I can’t remember the solution but something has loosened up I think. Post that question on this forum and one of the seasoned Edgun experts like OldGoat can answer it. Yes – I find the .25 Kings handle a little more velocity more accurately than the .22 JSB 18s. In our Air Rangers we go as high as 980 and have gotten excellent accuracy at long range. I like to keep them below 950 and 930 is good. My .22 Cricket is right at 903 FPS avg and I would not go any higher.

Nice purchase, I too struggled with the standard and long version and I’m glad I went with the standard. Mine came shooting at a pretty consistent 905 FPS which is right around the sweet spot for kings, even though the kings seem to be able to preform a stable flight at 936 that the cricket sends them out at. On thing I wanted to ask you and everyone for the matter, the first few pellets were really smooth and nice to load. I didn’t have an issue what so ever getting the pellet home when closing the bolt. After about 150-200 rounds or so, I noticed that it was becoming more difficult to get the bolt to close smoothly and would actually end up “slamming” the bolt home to lock the bolt down. I guess slamming is a little harsh, maybe more like aggressively driving the bolt home with one swift motion. When your round count gets higher let me know what you are thinking about pellet loading.

Coda – update us about the shot count once you get it properly set up. I just bought my second R3 in .22 cal and i plan on getting a .25 come fall. Just little unsure which route to take there – long or standard.. 😯

I’ll test her out. I struggled with std vs long decision too and was about to get a .25 Cricket. In stalling the long vs std decision an Edgun std became available so I pounced on it. Now the std .25 Edgun is a few inches longer than the std Cricket and I really would not want to go much longer or heavier (even though this Edgun seems very light). It is about 29″ long. I love these guns short. If I can get more than 30 shots or so out of a gun I really stop caring about shot count. Its not worth the additional weight IMO. I have unlimited air.

Scope mounting is next. I am kind of particular about it. I hear the slight decline (for those 200 meter shots) on the mount has been giving some a challenge.

Here are a few shots over the Chrony…. looks like it is right at 50 FPE with JSB Kings. 930 FPS avg. My Air Ranger avgs about 935 FPS. I am sure glad my deck is under roof. 70 F and sprinkling. Can you imagine the impact on sparrows? Its a bit louder than the .22 Cricket.

I just dry fired it and the trigger is excellent. I shot a two year old .22 Matador dozens of times and this is a very significant improvement. I will shorten the 1st stage slightly as I did on the Cricket. Its funny but both of these guns arrived with the triggers set very close to each other. Bolt action is very smooth. I’ll chrony a few shots in a bit.

I guess that air that arrived in it could be humid Florida air. I better shoot it out quickly. πŸ™‚
