Q:

FX Impact .25 Speed issue

Hi!

Just got my impact and i am adjusting the speed. My crony is broken (shot it) and new parts is on the way. I have tried to up the speed but i feel i only get half way. I settet the reg arounf 135 bar (hard to tell exact since the gauge suck in details). I have also adjusted the hammerspring to almost max (half a turn backup of from not cocking). Also adjusted the valvestem return spring to max which should give me easy 280 m/s (920 fps) but when comparing to my Cricket in .22 i suspect i am 50-60 m/s away from my goal (i know i have super hearing). Any suggestions what this could be? My impact does not have the marks on valvestem spring tension adjustment bolt. On all the reviews there is 4 marks. 2 big and 2 half lines inbetween. When i first tested the gun it did not even shot the lead out of the barrel (.25 JSB Heavy).

Cheers!

So the problem came back. I took the gun apart and tried to find something wrong but i could not. When i put it together i got a leak from the left side of the gun where the power adjuster wheel is. Took it apart again and found a hole in reg pressure tube that i guess should align with the hole coming from regulator vale adjuster hole…hard to explain. Well i tried some more fiddling but decided to ship it to FX for a proper checkup…..

Checked the reg pressure today and it was now holding fine…just below 150 bar. I will fill her up to 220-230bar and see if it makes the reg pressure slide up…

These Impacts and Wildcats sure seem to have loads of inbuild flaws. 🙁

yes, just like any other air guns with my own experience its not much, and we are here to make it better with a comment like that!

I took the whole AG apart and found only 3 issue, and they were fix by the MFR, and took my advice to mike her better, if you know of other issue from the owner or what you read please let me know so we all fix and have a better AG to enjoy!—->granted its not for everyone, but I think its one of the best!

Found only three issues ? That’s four too many 🙂
I know there are no flawless gun brands out there though. And was i to buy an FX it would probably be the Impact then.

My impact has high reg pressure when stored. From normal 150 (ish) bar to almost 200 when not used for a day or two. It feels like something aint right!

look like the delrine seat has a leak and lucky that it has a gauge to see that, not like other reg BP that doesn’t have one—I have to test it in time interval like take a shot record speed wait 5 min record speed wait 15min take another shot, record speed, wait 1 hour take a shot record speed, wait 12 hours take a shot. this test take a long time without a gauge, if speed increase the longer it rest—indicate a leaky delrine reg seat.

edit:
if pressure is to great on the regulated chamber like +200b when the HSTA was set for 150b, then speed will be lower 1st shot or till pressure comes back down to 150b to see your normal speed.

that’s one thing I love about the impact, you can always see the reg pressure for trouble shooting purpose.

Sounds like a creeping o-ring on the high pressure side to me, worst case scenario you need bigger o-rings there or simply softer ones to seal better. But I don’t know how the impact reg is built/placed so I might be wrong

Oh yeah… I have no clue if your accurate or not thats why I was asking but to my knowledge on regs are being set to 140 bars from the factory. With that I have no way of testing that for sure right now especially with the gauges on there and I don’t have the equipment.

Oh wait… ERNEST!!! Mr. Ernest sniperlabyo have you tested the Regulator pressure on your gun???

For that Adjusting Valve Knob….

Its one of the main adjusting you will use outside of the power wheel but, the the Four (4) lines is not enough to fine tune accurately its a start but needs to be more precise and to be returnable. As it is now it is not…. you have about 11mm of adjustment and slights twist less than a 1 mm of travel length wise will change everything. The need something like on a Micrometer for adjustment on it…. :winkn:

I guess I should of sent that with the message…

My gauges are horrible at best 10 +/- in the center and decrease the more as you go to the outsides.

For a rifle that is meant to be fine tuned the little gauges are just horrible but thats my personal opinion. I sent message to FX more or less asking if they will be adding better gauges for this reason and/or if they will make some sort of port that will allow users to plug in a very accurate gauge just for tuning purposes.

Hi Ronin, how is the new impact working out for you? The small gauges with the mechanical coils have a much larger + or – reading compared to the gauges using the Bourdon Tubes like the Wika. I think the variation on the Wika gauge is +or – three to five percent. Was my advice to Linkan on the regulator inaccurate in your opinion?

All indications here in the US are the regulator is being set at 150 bar. I agree the Wika gauge would be a huge improvement over the coil spring technology of the FX gauges. What is the price of the Impact in the Netherlands? Show us some groups when you get it sorted out.

indication… Are you say that people are setting it or the factory is setting the reg to 150 for the US?

I too agree with the Wika gauge would be a great improvement…

” Tens of thousands” 🙂
Sweden, a country of 10 million people, has taken far over hundred thousand last year alone.
