Q:

FX Impact vs Wicked Air WARP

I have saved enough to purchase an Impact but i was referred to check out Wicked Airgun’s WARP which looks very similar to the Impact but about $200 less and a one month wait rather than 3-4 month wait for the Impact.

Albeit the Impact may have extra tunability features, the WARP looks very attractive. Anyone biy a WARP yet and what are opinions?

I have said it before more than once , actually many times . If you buy a product ( PCP GUN ) that has any issues out of the box that
has more than the rare 1% flaw or problems then the maker is selling you a piece of shit out of pure greed that they know has a problem
but instead of fixing their problems they are going to sell you their flaw product just to make the money and let you the buyer suffer
until they get enough complaints to fix it . Which leaves you the buyer totally fucked with a product that is totally worthless until it
is corrected and because of the money they get they will soft sell you and say okay we will fix it , but it may take months to correct
the problem and you the buyer are left with a product that you have paid big money for and can not use until it is fixed . :angrymob:

If I got my info right, the gun Ted has was made for EBR and personally tuned (and made sure it functions properly) by FX so they could show off at extreme benchrest. Then they gave it to Ted. So yes, it is special but it should not mean that by right, every .25 Impact SHOULD be able to preforme similarly if tuned correctly

I read some of this as the War has my interest up , Seems to be a cool gun and dependable.
Now the FX impact, How can this gun at this price point have so many problems,
Over 50 % of the guns sold have a major problem,
Its like Hell yea the FX will out shoot anything for two weeks, Then Its broke,,,,
And there is no way in hell you can tell me Ted has a out of the box gun,,,,, Its a blue printed special built gun just for Ted, He may not know it , But they did it, I really hate to be a FX Impact hater, But just look at all the major problems with this HIGH dollar gun….
WTF, I would pull this gun from the market and fix all the crap , And sell it as a high dollar gun,
Then I hear, Well its a complex gun and its going to have problems,,,,, Bullshit, Make it simple and then sell it….
Just a little vent from me, Just because when the FX came out I thought man I got to have one,,,,,
Just will not happen until FX gets its shit straight,
Mike

I have a Flex, my good friend has a Impact that I have shot. Now I have a order in for the Warp. I believe the Warp will have fixed the issue I had with the Flex. That being the size of it. I am getting the Warp in .25 with a .30 barrel also. I can do a review of it once I get it and put it side by side to the Impact.

I would really appreciate a review. I am letting the funds burn a hole in my pocket until then. Look forward to see how your Warp performs.

The fact that you can even order the WARP with the 480cc tank gives an all new spin to the options on this gun.

also I hear you can pick the barrel length too, That’s pretty good.

Flex 30 cal has been listed for 5 days at $1750. Resale is important when buying anything of value. All the Impacts listed recently sold for close to retail within 24 hours, 48 hrs max.

There is a 30 cal Flex for sale in the GTA classified, seller is asking $1750. Listed Aug 11th.

I got the Bobcat in .30 and the Flex in .30. At 50 yards it is a toss up on what is more accurate. At 75yard the Flex will out shoot the bobcat by a little. At 100 yards it is no contest. The Flex will out shoot the Bobcat with ease at that distance. I have a bobcat in .25 cal and it is the same way. after 50 yards the smooth twist starts falling off. If I was planning on doing most of my shooting past 50 yards I wouldn’t even think of a smooth twist barrel.

Here is a little read for you all about the W.A.R. Flex .30

http://airgunguild.com/big-bore-airguns/30-war-fox/

Well, when you get a gun from W.A.R.you essentially get a semi-custom gun,…..you tell them where you want it and Travis will deliver it that way, a gun fully tested and to the specs you asked for.

So there’s no point put fixed specs on the Website,……we know he can deliver the FLEX tuned from low FPE all the way up to 200 FPE in .308, same story with the WARP , I think the WARP goes up to 100 FPE or so.

Also the platforms are easy to tune to different power output and change caliber at home even for not experienced airgun people.

Did I mention the guns are Rugged, Accurate, Tough, phenomenal Timney Calvin Elite trigger, and incredible costumer support right here in America.

Are these the final release versions?

It looks interesting but I’m wondering why they didn’t go with the CF bottle like in the FLEX. Are there no CF bottles that fix the WARP? Appears to be talented guys who designed it but their website is a bit lacking on details. Especially when they’re asking $1,649 for these. We need specs like barrel length, FPE for each caliber, shot count, magazine sizes and etc.………if it was my money and I could wait a few months, I’d go with the FX Impact for the $200-300 difference. Resales of an Impact should be better too if you decide it isn’t for you. If you go with the the WARP, do report back.

I agree that Wicked Air Rifle should post specs on the WARP. It’s just a fundamental practice to satisfy the airgun gastronome with data; especially if we’re going to cash out $1600 plus. I like the idea of “Made in USA” but I prefer hard data regardless of the gun’s nationality.

I had a FLEX .30 in for field testing and I can tell you that it’s a no nonsense gun, built like a tank extremely accurate with a phenomenal trigger.

Built in America with the best costumer support you can ask for, easy barrel change where you can go from .22 all the way to 200 FPE in .308 (can’t do that with an Impact)

The WAR guns are simple yet built to the highest standards, so solid,….the Impact from what I hear is somewhat a delicate gun that needs to be handled with white gloves.

You gotta chose which one fits you better, but there’s already plenty reviews ( from real costumers, and those are the ones that count ) out there, all those for the FLEX are raving about the gun, not so much for the Impact.

I always heard the FX smooth twist was the creme de la creme of accuracy. I did a few rudimentary google checks and saw varying opinions on the accuracy of the LW barrel vs the FX smooth twist. Looks like maybe the LW barrel might have an edge at 100 yards +?

What caliber are you planing to buy? Most ST and LW barrels are accurate. ST barrels have won the majority of the EBR 75 and 100 yard competitions. Google AoA EBR results. I think the only year a ST didn’t win a gun with TJ barrel did.

The two ST barrels I have had were very accurate. A CZ barrel in my humble opinion is the creme de la creme.

I am planning on buying the .30 caliber. I will google AoA EBR and check it out. Most of my shots will be within 50 yards for harvesting javelina sized critters. I have enough to buy the FX Impact with one extra mag. I’d like the barrel but an extra FX barrel is the cost of buying a Condor SS; otherwise I would order an extra .25 cal barrel.

I haven’t ruled out WARP pistol yet, but like the other members indicated, their website needs to lay down some basic stats on the gun such as a 10 shot bench result, specs on pellets/FPE, etc.

If I was choosing between the 2 in 30 cal it would be the Impact. The ST barrels love 30 cal , never heard of a 30 cal ST barrel that wasnt real accurate with JSB 44 grain. The TJ barrel is also very accurate in .30 but when and if you sell the Impact will hold its value better.

Most Impacts in 25 cal can only push the 34 grain 860 fps, where most of the Flex’s I have read about are shooting 34 grain over 900 fps. So I might go with a regulated FLEX over the Impact in 25 and 22 cal.

Yeah the extra barrel and magazine prices for the Impact are crazy!!! Check out this thread on AGN about the smoothtwist barrel issues.
