Q:

Gary Barnes: HAWG Conversion, 25 to 62 caliber, n 30 seconds

Was over on the Gary Barnes “AIRGUN RENDEZVOUS” forum the other night and i saw this video. It’s a short video of one of his creations called the HAWG. Its a 62 smoothbore with a 25 caliber insert that screws into the smooth bore barrel. As the title states, you can go from SMOOTH BORE to SMALL BORE in 30 seconds. And yes, his smooth bore gun are about as accurate as a rifled barrel gun. Gary makes some really unique rifles and has for some time. I really like the ideas GB comes up with.

Again, this is simply neat to me and i would like to share so please, NO REMARKS ABOUT HIS GUNS BEING UGLY OR WEIRD LOOKING (comments that i’ve read in the past from posters). That’s not the point, its the ingenuity of his guns. Like smooth bores that are not only accurate with slugs but can also be shoot as a air powered shotgun. And now this gun that is actually 3 guns in one…a smooth bore which shoots a 62 cal projectile or can shoot shot or which can be used to shot small bore projectiles with the use of an insert.

And an accuracy video with the same gun:

I love the gold tooth reliquary treatment on this piece….

I saw the Cathedral piece when I went to an art museum earlier in the year, HOLY FUCKING SHIT it was amazing, easily the best piece in the whole damn place.

Turns out one of my good friends used to work with him in the late 80’s…

If you want to see the building of the cathedral piece check out this link… http://www.synapsedigi.com/al_farrow.htm

Hundreds of photos of the whole process.

yeah, that shit is pretty cool i think too

I said it be4 and I’ll say it again, Gary is my HERO! 😆

Man that guy is talented. Keep in mind I am a fan of Leonardo, Kenneth Howard (Von Dutch)…I group him into that fine “mold”!

Thanx Shaggy. I got a complete collection to but i tell ya what, i’m selling a few and at some point when things get better, I”M GETTING A BARNES. His gun will be my next and i will buy no others till then.

That Man is good. 😀 And who say’s GB has ugly guns? 😀
I don’t have one but My collection is compleate so I don’t recon I’ll ever get one although I’m in the Fever.

LOL….i guess i deserve a beating for saying that here or anywere..lol

Just thought the whole caliber swap thig was bad ass and didn’t want the post turning into a………”THAT GUN IS UGLY” kinda thing.

But oh well, i’m over it all……the post is old and didn’t get many replies anyways. I TRIED.

My point is, with GB guns, the first thing DUMBASSEs talk about is the look. Even if i owned one and showed a cool video of it blowing up an ELKS chest at 100 yards, a couple of idiots will always say, “NICE SHOT ON THE ELK BUT, HIS GUNS ARE UGLY and TOO EXPENSIVE”. So yeah, its frustrating when people are so transparent. One guy on the yellow already made a half assed comment on the guns looks. Still say, IT’S NOT THE POINT.

Apart from the fact that they are engineering masterpieces, an awful lot of ‘art’ goes into them as well. It kinda jumps out at you. Therefore the aesthetics of the rifle is a big part of what makes a ‘Barnes Gun’ The looks will always come a very close second to the function.
People will always discuss it. But whether you like the looks or not, you have to appreciate the skill that goes into making a rifle ‘artwork’

And as for,

Are you serious?!?!

Funny thing, SOME people claim all of Gary’s guns are Klingon ugly sticks yet I’ve got 3 that are in 3 totallly different styles from traditional to….klingon?

I thought it looked pretty cool 😎

Ok Steve in CT… 🙄

This ain’t the smello yello forunt, we can say what we want here…

Some people will find it ugly sure, but it’s because they are ignorant fucktards without any ability for recognizing style, class and absolute awesomeness. 😉

I kind of figured it was a bit hot after going from 62 to 25, but those 9-rings should work nicely i’d think…

Faz, I think you need to start saving for a Barnes here. Fuck the Rogue, test one of the REAL bb rifles soon!
