Q:

Gary Barnes: HAWG Conversion, 25 to 62 caliber, n 30 seconds

Was over on the Gary Barnes “AIRGUN RENDEZVOUS” forum the other night and i saw this video. It’s a short video of one of his creations called the HAWG. Its a 62 smoothbore with a 25 caliber insert that screws into the smooth bore barrel. As the title states, you can go from SMOOTH BORE to SMALL BORE in 30 seconds. And yes, his smooth bore gun are about as accurate as a rifled barrel gun. Gary makes some really unique rifles and has for some time. I really like the ideas GB comes up with.

Again, this is simply neat to me and i would like to share so please, NO REMARKS ABOUT HIS GUNS BEING UGLY OR WEIRD LOOKING (comments that i’ve read in the past from posters). That’s not the point, its the ingenuity of his guns. Like smooth bores that are not only accurate with slugs but can also be shoot as a air powered shotgun. And now this gun that is actually 3 guns in one…a smooth bore which shoots a 62 cal projectile or can shoot shot or which can be used to shot small bore projectiles with the use of an insert.

And an accuracy video with the same gun:

Ced,

You didn’t mention it but I thought I’d point out, in .25 mode, that gun is more powerful than all but a handful of the .25s we talk about here! It shoots the equivelent of a 6 ring at 127FPE….on air. It has a small res but I helped with the initial testing and saw 5 pretty level shots at that power. Or, you can shoot 5 Kodiaks at over 1200fps! Not that you’d want to as the 60 grain slugs are quiet and accurate.
