Q:

Got my 9mm kit yesterday! Pics sunday hopefully.

Got my 9mm kit yesterday. I’m extremely busy with stuff right now, so no pics yet. I’ll try to get it installed on Sunday, and give it a review. Thanks blodnob.

sorry about confusion,to many figures for my poor old brain to cope with, doh

I’m using a thumbreaker spring, and it seems to have no problems opening the valve. I’m surprised that the 158 grain shoot at 755, and the roundball shoot at 815. I thought that there would be more of a drop in velocity than that. I suppose that I will get some 158 grain then.

815fps with the roundball, and they are fairly soft lead so should be going through barrel easier, what kind of spring are you using as the thumbbreaker of a spring i was using had no more diference than the lighter one that come with the valve, although with the lighter one i had a few probs as not enough to knock tophat back with a 200bar fill,

Yes, I do have numbers. I was totally wrong before. There is no way that it was shooting 80 grain pellets supersonic. With the tophat screwed as far in as it will go, it shoots at around 500fps. The fastest I shot them at today was around 800fps. But the tophat wasn’t all of the way out. I’m sure that this valve is capable of 900fps with 80 grainers, but I haven’t gotten there yet.

Loftus, What numbers were you getting with the 80 grain?

the workmansip sean has done on the valve is superb,

Got any numbers???

it will still sound kinda loud to the shooter, after all theres alot of air rushing through th valve, breech, and barrel…but if you listen to it 20-50 yard downrange i think youll be surpriced

That’s exactly what was happening. Blodnob’s shroud is actually VERY effective.

@ DNC….how big is your shroud ?

you will need a shroud thats about the size of a 6 cell maglite(measures from the swtich and back), and you need baffles

dont use springs to space them they will not hold up unless you can get some crazy hard ones….thin fender washers will bend from the pressure, there can be as much as 1800 psi behind the first washer !

here it is….my übervalve…yeah a few secrets has been censored…

material is freemachining steel for the body, and stem (stem has been hardened), and delrin….orings a buna-n 90dm, the screw in the end is just a #8 screw

this requires quite a knock to make it open up….but by changing the delrin OD size, the thin part of the stem, and the small bore of the of the valvebody you can customize it to your own needs…when making smaller you might want to reduce dimention of the stems thicker part too…i try to keep the delrin about .050″ bigger than the hole is covering plus the thicker part of the delrin is a failsafe

this valve is the culmination of my last 2 years of experimenting….high pressure is dangerous to work with…if you decide to try replicate this its on your own risk…. 🙄

i got nice cad drawings…and DXF files which should be easy to convert to CNC…those can be had for $$$ 8)

Hey Vol’
I just copied off of a few other peaple on here who have this style ov valve licked.
There are a few detailed pics on previouse pages of this thread but if you need owt exact im happy to give what info i have.
Cygnus is really your chap for the whys n wherefors of this style valve.
Sean.

Blodnob, would you be able to provide details on this 9mm valve?
What did you change to get it smokin’?
Walter….

Its still really loud. My friend said that it was muffled though, and that it didn’t sound like a gunshot. It might be too loud to shoot in my backyard.

Obviously the shroud is helping, but its no where near “all you hear is the hammer slap”. Its probably close to my shrouded .25, or a little louder.

So, I’m satisfied.

Whats it like with the shroud ?

I was only going by sound. I will try to chrony it within the next couple of days to see how it is really shooting.

that is cool dude…

not to rein down on your judgement….but but did you chrony the rifle…or just using the sound as judgement ?

these bigbores are loud….and the escaping air from the bore will break the sound barrier making it SOUND like it broke it but in reality just the air escaping…and the projectile is slower
