Q:

Got my new Vulcan .25

Wow I thought these new ones don’t ping that loud. It’s the loudest ping I have heard from any airgun I have ever shoot, This is got to be fixed. I guess I will be looking into it or returning it.

I don’t think there is any kind of depinger installed… Just can’t be to ping as loud as it does.

I shot it three times not sure if I like it at all. My Cricket .25 was way quieter than this thing.

What gives???

i tryed the roll up tubing in my vulcan.
it work some what ok, but like the guy in the video, its still there.

i’m going too try the baby bottle bush, kool idea, thx 4 sharing. 😯

Either I’m half deaf or something is wrong with your gun. I’ll say it again. Gun needs breaking in and a grommet fix.
Mine has no ping at all. Have not been in air tube or anything. Buy a sleeve of pellets and have at it. In the meantime wear ear plugs if it’s that bad. But grommet fix is definitely something I’d recommend right from the start

What do you think of the “bottle brush” depinger?

http://www.network54.com/Forum/79537/thread/1435006064/Bottle+brush+de-pinger+test+results

I’m leaning towards this method. Super simple, tried and liked by multiple users.
Reportedly more effective than the PVC tubing and cheap as heck
Also, easy to REMOVE.

Thanks for Sharing. That’s looks very interesting. I might also do that and let you know how it goes.

Congrads on the .25.
You didn’t waste any time getting inside 😎
FYI a while bach the Czech’s got exposed to Kentucky BLUE GRASS Music, imported a few banjos’, and now can’t live without at least a weekly visit to the pub to hear their own rendition of Blie Grass TWANGing Music. Now it comes full circle and we are importing some of our TWANG back to the U.S.

You might be able to cure a ping but you’ll never completely get rid of our beloved TWANG.

Ok took the air gauge off and as you can see there is no depinger inside the air tank of the Vulcan.

I will be adding one just like Ted does here. That should get rid of that annoying tank ping that this gun produces.

Have someone make you up a Real Deal Depinger out of Delrin. Not sure why nobody is selling them yet…. I had a P12 and them dam things ping. one had a lane reg and one had a huma….

The huma didn’t ping. but the lane regulated p12 was just as bad as no dePinger….

I bet that the vulcan regulater must really flow some air.

Hi

I understand that a new hammer will be freely available at the end of January 2016. This to take out peaks being experienced with the .25 model. Probably hammer bounce. Possibly this AGN modification may mitiigate twanging issue.

When I recall getting my 25 Vulcan this summer it sounded like I was shooting a springer. After 3k shots and a grommet on hammer spring it’s nothing like it anymore . Matters of fact when I had Friends over shooting it we did a blind test between the Vulcan and cricket 25 he deemed the vulcan quieter that cricket. Plus cricket was shooting 860 at the time. Hope this helps. FYI it don’t matter to me which gun a guy shots. He just needs to shut up and not convince me his gun is better than Mine

I got to agree that it’s pretty quiet but could be better. Definitely needs a some type of depinger in the air chamber. You get that twing ting noise when you shot it.

I have a CF NC Air Stripper on my .22 Cricket. This Vulcan will be getting one also.

I will be very interested in learning what you find inside your air cylinder.

There seems extra confusion regarding the Vulcan’s because the terms ping and “depinger” has been misused on this forum to describe the noise of the hammer spring and the plastic sleeve placed over the spring to reduce its considerable twang.

This differs from the usual convention in PCP’s where depinger is a noise reduction device inside the air cylinder — normally nothing to do with the hammer spring.

So, when I read that the factory is now installing a “depinger” and the next picture I see is a tube sleeve over the hammer spring, I really have no idea whether or not that “factory installed depinger” is actually one in the air cylinder.

Add to that the notion that a regulator should obviate the need for an air tube depinger.
Also, Ernest wrote something about “ping” noise caused by the air regulator spacer and damping the spacer with an o-ring and electrical tape.

“De-pinging” a Vulcan seems to connote at least three different things – only one of which matches the usual meaning for PCP’s

If you have nothing inside your air cylinder, learning whether your adding a air tube depinger helps would be a boon to our general knowledge.

You are so correct. The only depinger I know of is inside the air chamber and it helps when air is rapidly released from the tank. I have one in all my airguns and had them professionally installed.

Not sure what the hammer depinger is. Maybe they are referring to a anti bounce type thing for the hammer???

I also am going to see is NC can make for for a better air stripper on this bad boy.

Other than that seems like a solid .25 airgun. Still needs to be broke in bolt is a little stiff.

If it’s a newer one it was supposed to have a de-pinger already installed from what I’ve heard. I’d contact the seller and inquire.

Yea I asked before I bought it. Should have it. I guess i will open the air chamber on it and look if not I will put some rubber tubing in there like my moods have been done. That makes a huge difference.
