Great Day for shooting
What’s up Brothers, (I would say ladies and gents but i’ve yet to heard of any women active on the forum)
This morning was great weather wise for shooting, got out to the range at about 7 a.m. (off day from work) and put about 350 pellets down range today at 50 and 75 yard mostly, popped a few clay pigeons at 100 yards but no picture or videos of that. Now i know up till know everything sounds great, and i wish i could say it was, the first 50 pellets where, then followed by 300 rounds of what the FUCK. I just got in 8 tins of JSB kings 25 grain, 25 cal from Pyramid Air, and they are definitely not the same as what i’ve been shooting for the last 3 months some shoot as expected great, and others will hit 1-1.5 mil dots high, left, right, low where ever they wanted. I adjust my 50 yard zero several times trying to figure out what was going on, pulled the shroud off and shot 30 like that and it was just hit or miss. No don’t want to sound like a drama queen the misses where like 2 out of 9, but way to high to be the random flyer. The long and the short of things is at 50 yards my gun shot half an inch groups 9 of them 5 shots per group. The POI also shift from left to right from full to off regulator about 1 to 1.5 mils (36 shots). That is a gun issue for sure. So i will check all my screw and clean it up some time today. Almost want to clean the barrel and just go on back out, but my wife would kill me because we have a lunch date. So once i get back i will post Video on youtube of 75 yard pellets in flight and me shooting a one inch dualing tree that i picked up awhile ago. Pictures and video to come soon.

Don’t measure head and skirt side but they all look the same, and clipping from what I’ve been told will take care of itself. I’m sure after 5000 round of lead Traveling at 900 FPS should resolve clipping correct. I am planing on taking it to the range this week and videoing with out the shroud and moderator installed.
Keyser, most of the pellets came from the same tin. I had about 50 pellets left over from an older tin and dumped the new tin on top ( pellets are in a cannery jar). So most of the shoots were from the same new tin. Second I believe the set screw holding the barrel in place is messed up because the magazines became harder to install in the mag holder. So I pulled the barrel clean and inspected the barrel all looked good then reinstalled. The set screw does not hold the barrel
From rotating only the clamp screws.
Shooter, not sending it back to Peter because first he is not a tuner second not looking for a refund, third I’ve got the money for some I trust and respect to look at it, and lastly I’m not sure if or what the problem is so first identify it then deal with it. But as always thanks for you enlighten and extremely positive feedback.
I do not understand why the gun is going to be sent to Keyser who is one of the best PCP experts in the history rather than a dealer to receive a full refund?
Not every pellet spiralled. Do me a favor before sending me the gun, tell me are your kings mixed and matched thin skirts and thick? Also have you measured the head of the pellet. Did you check all your baffles for clipping.
At what speed were you shooting? If speed is a bit too high, instabillity sometimes reveals itself only at longer ranges, greater than 40-50 yards.

I confirm pellet instability at the 75 yard mark. I had my own experiments during the time when slow motion video was relatively available and fairly new to the hobby. My experiments were done with cal .22. Now, with your video, I see the same effect with cal .25 too
I think it has something to do with the diabolo design.

Barrel was clean and thank you for the suggestion, sometimes a duck is just a duck and OTHER times its a teenage mutant ninja turtle in disguise. Point being not everything is that simple and not every problem has to be that complicated. Second, (shooteer) by chance did you get a chance to read Pyramid Airs article on the need to clean air gun barrels by Tom Gaylord? (God father of airguns, if you believe the hype)

I think the explanation is simple. Clean the barrel thoroughly. If you use any kind of oil, remove it using alcohol prior to shooting. Then start to shoot in perfect conditions. If your groups start to become wider after e.g. 50 shots, clean the barrel again and repeat. If the same situation occurs then you will know it’s a barrel issue. Return here with the results. Easy peasy.

Steele: thanks for your input but my .22 shoots 18 grain JSB at distance with no problem.
