H&N Field Target 5.53 14.66 grain in new Short Mutant
I have been trying some additional pellets in the latest Short Mutant with the latest factory barrel and I think I found one winner so far out of the four tested (Predator Long, JSB 13.43 and 14.3, and H&N FTT 14.66).
.22 Predator
I can’t get it to shoot the long .22 Predators (longs – didn’t try the shorts) well. Maybe good enough for hunting out to 50 yards but not in the 15.9 or 18.1 class.

After I gave up on those I tried a few other pellets and found another winner. I have a lot of H&N Field Target Trophy 5.53mm heads 14.66 grain on hand for my PRod. They shoot amazingly well at 50 yards – as good as the 18.1s in the SM. I need to chrony them – they must be flying around 900 fps. POI is to the left of the 18.1s nearly an inch. I also tried the JSB 13.43 and 14.3s and they were not as good as the best three 15.9, 18.1, and H&N FTT 14.66. I realize there is a mix on head sizes but I am noticing the larger heads are good on my gun.
Can someone else confirm if they have any .22 FTT 14.66 grains on hand and a Short Mutant with the latest factory barrel? TIA

I am only seeing about 850 fps with the 14.66s. Energy is about 2 fpe lower than the 18.1s at 800 fps. 24 vs 26. Basically, it is the best accuracy that will matter.

Sure thing Coda I have about 4,500 of them all from PA, I had to dig them out. 😆
I’ll test shoot them today with my new CZ barrel installed.

It appears these are all 5.53 at PyramydAir. I am sure mine all came from there. I have about 5000 of them.
I shot some groups yesterday evening with the same results. Not sure about longer ranges beyond 50 yards.
