Has anyone used one of these? Is it reliable?

Hoot summed it up pretty good. Not cal specific but you need to zero it between shots by pushing a button.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2. This POS iPhone sucks though …

I too bought one as my first chrono, felt the need for a full size one and went with a SKAN unit (excellent piece of equipment!).
I will gladly gift (as in free) my Combro chrony to any EU based forum member.

I owned one, and eventually sold it and bought a full sized unit.

It works very well, but understand you are getting a hang-on device that is labor intensive compared to shooting strings through a regular chrony. It’s best used for occasional fps checks, and not for prolonged shooting sessions.

You can post a WTB on the Yellow and I’ll bet anything several will show up for sale. People buy them, use them, understand how important a chrony is, then upgrade to a full size unit. Used, these things generally sold for around $40-$45 USD last time I looked.

I don’t believe it is caliber specific, at least I don’t remember it being so. If the pellet will fit through the opening, you should be good to go. Just be certain to line it up absolutely straight with the muzzle. I used a short piece of dowel rod to ensure the pellet got a straight shot through the device.

I’ve been chrony studying and shopping also and I may just give it a try too, I like small and simple so long as it is accurate and it sounds like it is as good as the others most people use.

I think I’m going to get this little pocket sized deal. It’s easy and at the very least accurate to 1.5fps. Company states 0.5fps for their testing and claims 1fps in their product description. That’s not enough to matter. If it breaks in a year or two….I can buy a newer model.

Well the Gamma w/ Master Shooting Chrony is $214 now and then you need a tripod. I paid about $100 back then for the trade-in w/o the printer and got the printer for free and stole one of my wife’s tripods so its not cheap and some say not that great. It does have a large memory for recording shots, etc. The better news is I added a couple of $5 LED magnetic lights from Lowes and it virtually eliminates the errors.

Kind of a strange video. The gloves are for lead I guess? Then he hides the gun out of the picture. I guess if that knob loosens up you can shoot that one too. 😆

I was wrong about $40…best deal I’ve seen is from their website direct. Ville posted a link. About $82 plus shipping. It’s probably a better deal to go with a Shooting Chrony but if you want pocket sized…..

Hi Ville

Do you have to reset the chrono every time before the next shot? Will it work on .25 and .30 caliber?

It was $40 bucks I think. I’ll post a link when I get home.

I have the Gamma w/ Master which is the best Shooting Chrony makes and it gets errors when it is overcast without the LEDs I added. I only got it on an upgrade when I shot my twenty year old Chrony. That said I use the Chrony printer a lot.

I read in the manual that it uses infrared light so it might work in the dark if it generates it. Now that would be safe. 😮

Might actually be so. I´ve taken readings with it outside while raining, under a roof to boot. Try that with your regular Chrono .. 😀

Ok, pocket size chrono, no need to spend time to set up except for a few rubber bands, not picky as far as lighting goes, accurate as the more expensive models.

Dr. Steele, where can I find one at the best price?

It´s not as picky with lighting as most “real” chrono´s are but i haven´t tried mine indoors. I don´t actually keep it in place with my hand but use a couple of rubberbands to attach it. Works like charm.
The sensors are just a few millimeters from the pellet path and i think that´s the secret for its “non pickiness” with lighting – as well as for its accuracy.

I saw Ed used something like this one with ease. I hate the idea of having to hold it with your fingers somewhere near the muzzle. I am sure none of you guys gave any accidents right?
How about lighting, do you need adequate lighting or you can use it indoor?
