Has anyone heard from Taipan?
:hoot:
I can’t help but wonder what has taken place at Taipan lately. Has anyone gotten word from the factory about new products?
There seems to be plenty of the .22 line still available, but no word for some time now as to whether any production is available for .25 caliber this year.

Swine…
Don’t mention “droop” to readers who are 74 years of age!
Hoot:
“At my age, my flag no longer flies at full mast…”
Isn’t it the other way around? If you’re standing erect with it pointing away from you… the 20MOA is actually angled upwards isn’t it? Seems like that’s what everyone would want anyway. :winkn:

Oh, so the rail has the droop… I had not read that. Thats good.
The scope rail has built in 20moa it seems, so no need for a 20moa scope mount 😛
40 MOA is a lot of Drop
I was thinking, and mentioned only 20. So what am I missing here? 🙂
Man who flies,
I NEVER do things in that order. I always decide which gun I will sell to finance another but then find some way to pay for the new one first and plan to sell the other to replace the money.
That way I get to keep both :biggrinn:
Talk about being totally stupid . The makers for the Mutant thought that there wasn’t enough buyers on the market
that would drop enough money to have a .25 Mutant Shorty so they said Fuck It we will not make it . So wrong and
so stupid , maybe that was their excuse because they really did not have the ability to make a .25 Shorty that would
be 100% to shoot without any kind of defects ? I almost sold my .25 Vulcan to buy a .25 Mutant Shorty , the only reason
why I stopped the sale was because the makers never replied to all of those who wanted to buy a .25 Shorty that one
was in the works for sale . Lucky me , I almost sold the best PCP in .25 that I ever had for a .25 PCP that wasn’t going
to be made by the Mutant makers .
FROM : THE BIRDMAN
omg… I NEED ONE LOL

Thanks, for the info and the conversion 🙂 I needed to see these numbers. Now there are a few more I want to see with the new standard and long, but iits all good.
The new info is promising, there was the info on the standard unreg’d which by the conversion table I used has the 34gr @ 984 fps and change… That is not so bad there. It’s telling me the long is more of what I need really, which in .25 size doesn’t surprise me really.
Its not the weight that puts the hit on this setup so much as the diameter of the round itself. For instance the 958 fps with the 25 gr. Pellet, then taking the same setup rifle but in .22 caliber, that same weight pellet of 25gr would be yet faster because of less resistance through the atmosphere…
Now you start bringing in energy in this mix that 34 gr round wipes out the .22 round altogether 🙂
All this not taking in account for accuracy @ which speed needed for that 🙂 being able to hit the poi is the key thing first, I just want the power there to play with and the reserve 🙂
So, the 31″ and change Long is for me, really its a must. Just because of the reserve the longer barrel gives me for extra energy to play with different rounds. The longer air tank is an added bonus also, but here comes all the extra weight now I am sure.
The oal of 31.5″ is not a problem for me. The added weight will just be what it is. I want the Long because of its reserve power it affords me really.
Then I will have to decide if I really like the .25 size that much or not. I really like the size of .22 nowdays with the amount of reserve energy there is with the new pcp’s we can choose from.
I may just very well take the new Long, if I am lucky enough to get one, modify the cocking lever, by moving it forward of the trigger. I just fail to see this a big issue really. May even while on a roll taking a brandy new rifle and cutting and welding all over it, cut 20 moa drop in the scope rail as well. This will all depend on how nice and low I can get the scope to the center of the bore and comfortably glass things as well as shoot them.
Its all just time and money now I guess 🙂
Larry my math is pretty close to yours ,
Not bad for a 25 Mutant with the 25gr pellets, I have not moved up to the big ones yet, Got a few tins just not tried them in the Cricket 25.
My 6×24 viper scope has been discontinued, Being replaced with the new Optisan SVX scopes, Dam. And the price and date is TBA.
sometimes simple is better in my case anyway.
On the super fast 25 gr shooting Vulcans 25s , I think that was an Earnest tune , I did not mean the 34 gr pellets that was a mistake on my part.
I wrote the number down on my note pad , As I was also saying Dam. The Vulcan was not even on the radar until I read that post, I should have copied it .
It might have been on the AGN site I am searching now,
Mike
Well that totally sucks ……
no 25 shorty’s, well I guess that’s leaves me out high & dry then.
I know I’m not the only one here that’s been wanting a 25.shorty, that’s too bad.
I have the money set aside, & was ready too buy. :angrymob:
Thanks for the conversion.
Thanks for the update Jamie, those are impressive numbers. If my math is close.
262m/s = 859.58f/s 2 grams? = 34 grain JSB
292m/s = 958f/s 1.645 grams = 25.38 grains

Dang Hoot! 🙂 All that is good for doing effectively is taking a leak man… Anything thing else is just to expensive and is just trouble 🙂 JMO
For as the droop on the rail, not anything Hoot has mentioned; its all in the drop of the muzzle end of the rail.
You would raise the rear site or lower the front to lift the poi. Then you also need to keep in the picture just how high up the centerline of the scope is from the centerline of the bore…
Now, on yet another point; Hoot its also much easier to shake it out with the droop 🙂 which is much different from rubbing one out!!! 🙂
