Has anyone heard from Taipan?
:hoot:
I can’t help but wonder what has taken place at Taipan lately. Has anyone gotten word from the factory about new products?
There seems to be plenty of the .22 line still available, but no word for some time now as to whether any production is available for .25 caliber this year.

Not in my experience. Mid-800’s perhaps. Achieving 55 foot pounds of energy would be nice…but I have to doubt the Vulcan can achieve this.
I believe to achieve that 34gr fps in a Vulcan, you would need to modify the transfer port, the regulator, the valve, and modify/adjust the hammer tension spring. As a result of these mods, I can’t imagine what kind of shot count you would end up with.
If someone has manage to work this out, we’d like to know the step by step process….

You can get 960 fps with 34gr pellets in a vulcan?
I am kind of down, That the new 25 Mutant has not made it self known by now, I do believe as Dman stated that it is in the works,
I sure wished we could pin down a date, Or a close date like coming in a few months,
I am a big Mutant fan, I am also tempted to buy a standard 22 and have it pushed out to 940 FPS with polymags Makes it almost like a 25.
The problem is I have two 22 cal guns and only one 25 cal gun, I need to a6t least make it equal with two 25s and two 22s
That just common since to me,
The Vulcan 25 sure is looking good about now, Its a well proven gun and can be massaged up in the 960 FPS range with the heavy JSB pellets
Just bought me a 6×24 viper scope and a Harris bipod , AS soon as I get pay pal paid off , The gun will be next,

Yep, bullpups aren’t that popular over here. Most serious shooters who spend big bucks are FT shooters. So the Swedish airgun forum is lame as shit
So I did check with them via their website contact form. Very nice people but they said that due to Sweden’s shipping laws they cannot send airguns to the USA. The wording was a little unclear to me but it seemed that airguns and “real” guns are treated the same in that respect. They also said they have quite an inventory and they don’t sell very well (nor do Edgun or Cricket) compared to the FX bullpups. Thanks for the lead though….
Road trip! :biggrinn: :biggrinn: :biggrinn:
W have plenty of .22 standard in Sweden, if anyones interested: http://luftvapen.e-butiken.se/luftgevar/ovriga/taipan-mutant-22-standard
“There seems to be plenty of the .22 line still available, but no word for some time now as to whether any production is available for .25 caliber this year.”
Available where? .25 sounds good but I would like a .22 standard if I could find one.
I got a Cricket 25 and a Cricket 22 and a Mutant shorty 22 so I need a Mutant 25 to round things off,
I had a 177 ordered a while back that I canceled because I been making shots with my Cricket 22 with 18 gr JSB 940fps gun that is just wow,
80 and 90 yard shots taking doves off telephone poles,
I keep my Mutant shorty down to 50 yards due to the lower power with the 16 gr JSB pellets , I have the linstone and the CZ barrel for the gun.
I do not put my Cricket 25 25gr up in the air with that much weight . I do shoot them on level targets out to 100 yards. Once the pellet hits the ground the energy is pretty much gone,
Just the math on a 500 dollar PCP showed that after I installed a regulator, a LDC, a depinger and may be a good barrel .
I could have bought a Mutant 22 shorty or standard that are proven kick ass 22 cal guns at about the same cost.
OK I need some information on the 25 Mutant, middle of 2017? last of 2017? new gun for 2018?
Or I am going to have to send my 22 Mutant shorty to D man and tell him I need 940fps out of my gun with the 18 gr JSBs
Tick tock, D man can you pull it off 940 FPS out of a shorty , Shot count means nothing to me I got my own compressor .
The test is on ,
Your the number one man on the hot seat, What be your answer?
Mike
For those that own a mutant and actually watched that video, you can tell the breech/trigger assembly and a lot other parts doesn’t resemble a mutant at all. The only thing that make it “appear” to look like a mutant is the rail, cocking lever and fill port cover. It’s an old video and perhaps it was the building block to the mutant as we see it today but it’s far from closely resembling it.
I asked his source, this was his reply
Someone posted about it here a while ago and posted a link to a YouTube clip of the guy who was meant to be the original designer. I honestly have no idea how reliable the source was.
I remember that the gun in the video looked exactly like the Mutant apart from the stock which looked exactly like the current Vulcan stock. Unfortunately I don’t speak Russian (or whatever the language was) so I only have what I read here to go on.
This was the gun although I’m not sure if this is the same video with the Mutant designer.
my bet is that, like with most things, there is probably 2 sides to the story
That is the Raptor…. They are 2 different Manufactures . From what i am told and what i can understand. At one point these 2 guys used to make one gun. ( not sure what its was ) anyhow they split up and now they make the Raptor and dimitry makes the Taipan.
Taipan uses Cz barrels and has an amazing trigger… Also the mag indexing system is Great…..
Raptor uses LW barrels The trigger isn’t that good and it uses a FX/Maurader style magazines… Ive also read a lot of people rave about how quiet they are.. (yes even more quiet than the Mutant)
The guns look similar in design but they are different….. Im sure some ideas/ designs were shared at one point.

OK so since we’re on the subject…..
Still no dates… I’m not gonna even speculate.
So far what I know the standard .25 will be 700 mm long and the long will be 800 mm.
At this time a shorty won’t be offered. (They don’t feel there will be much demand …)
They have a few working prototypes … the anti double load is working great.
As far as power… standard is slinging JSB 2,2g at 262 m/s
The long is shooting them at 277 m/s.
The standard with JSB 1.645 is shooting 292 m/s for 37 shots..
Didn’t get that info on the long…
Without regulator the standard is shooting JSB 2,2g at 300 m/s
They will be testing for accuracy this week… then if all goes well I would imagine they will start assembing…
Now this is straight from the man…
So have patience.. and hopefully it won’t be to much longer.
