Q:

Help to tune Matador .25 STD

Today I just ran a string from my STD .matador 25.
shot JSB 25.4. 210 bar to 110 bar.
accuracy is no problem. it’s about 500 pellets through so far.
Spread 15, SD 4.

Can anyone help to improve it? how I can tune it to lower SD to about 2 or 3 and more shot counts.

string like this.

It’s just to bring down the writing starting point.
Some have trouble seeing the first sentence being so close to the top.

Thank you, Grey. It’s true. Edgun is easy to DIY for our airguners.

With the tissue paper test can be misleading.
Air movement can come from just the hammer swinging/smacking onto the valve.
The shroud back ports can move the tissue also.

All-in-all the EDgun is a blast to work on, no pun intended.

:8: Good job !!

Thank all of you. Today I disassembled the gun and did found a couple of problems.

1. the barrel brass collar was not sit right, so the o-ring had a little room to play.
2. there were bad o-rings on Regulator. I replaced 5. I didn’t do anything on washers, just light lubricate.
3. sand valve stem short a little bit to 3.11mm.
4. I was not sure about if the brass o-ring on TP was siting right, but I could see the tissue paper moved when firing.
I set Reg. to 1800 psi about 124 bar, av. 896fps.

Now it’s much better. Spread come down to 10 fps, and SD is about 2.81. I’ll play HST later.

Where is your . at the beginning?

I never needed to rebuild my reg on my Matador ….. yet.
But rebuild the one in my Lelya and the difference was like night and day and afterwhich didn’t need multiple of shots to break in.
Don’t know what it is about the factory built/assemble EDguns ?
Like sitting in the factory storage for a mandatory year and then restored until sold here in the USA with dead/harden/expired O-rings.

IDK yours don’t look horrible, so it’s up to you what you decide on.

Thank you guys. Do you recommend to keep shooting after 1k or 2k pellets through?

Stem 3mm ?
IDK, you need to check it on your gun, some differ.

After rebuilding of the reg without changing its setting the peak at 960 fps may become unobtainable because of that culprit O-ring.
If peak at 960 still exist after rebuild, then turning down the reg down to 120 bar is a good place to start.
But reset it if you must, I’ve tuned down my Matador 22 by just adjusting the HST down with the reg set to factory 130 bar with very good crony stats results.

~ Greg

so you had it shooting 960? thats quite high.

typical example of messing around with the hst.
pcp power cant be controlled with hst alone for it to stay constant. you need to lower the reg as well.

Thank you, Grey. I’ll try that.

Is stem sticks out about 3mm, right?

.

I’d rebuild the reg and leave the setting alone and see if it improves thereafter.
Change out all 4 O-rings and lightly lube washers stacks in the same order they came out.
The smallest reg piston O-ring (5 х 1.5mm) on the high pressure side could be the culprit, a flattened D-shape sided will indicate it.

Check the valve stem for straightness and clean, replace all AT O-rings since you’re already in there.

Thanks. I’ll try later. The first peak was about 960 fps, so I turned HST out to lower the speed to about 890.

your fps is creeping up 33-46, lower the reg setpoint
or increase the hst (if it goes any higher) so the initial 10-20 shots are closer to 900 and thats it.

i would lower the reg
