However, this 17 HMR is a pretty cool round, I have to order a scope mount from Henry Rifles and chuck up a smaller scope on it.
Iron sights just doesn’t do justice.

If your still looking for a scope, might i recommend the pine ridge BDC scope from cabelas. While it does not have leupold quality lenses, the BDC funtion will keep inch groups, with no holdover or mill dots,out to three hundred yards on top of my heavy barrel savage. That is a fine looking gun you’ve got there, and while you’ll have a tough time getting a scope to look very good on that gun, you won’t beleive what it will do for long range plinkin or hunting. If it were me id learn to love those iron sights, and pick up a savge model 93 and put a scope on that for long range fun. One can never really have too many guns you know. 😀

The .17HMR was a result of people trying to replicate the 5mm (.20 for “you” people) that was made for a couple of years commercially back in the 70’s if my memory serves.
Hey……You can’t compare the .17 hmr to the .204. That just aint fair…lol
Lets hope they make a .20 HMR, now that would kick ass. I know its been done, they just need to make it a commercial round.
They already did. Years ago. It was called the .20 or 5MM Remington. It was a good round featuring a great little core-loc bullet. but it didn’t sell. And the newer 17 HMR has better performance. 😀

i love mine super accurate and like it was said great varmint roung just a 22 mag necked down to a .17 and they are right it is louder than you might think
It’s a good varmint round, as is the .220 Swift and .22-250 but it’s not a rimfire round. 🙂
I have a heavy barrel savage 17 hummer…if you can see it,it will pretty much blow it apart 😆

In a ten mile per hour crosswind we noted a 4 to 6″ drift @ 200 yards. Try shooting a .22 @ 200 yards…you won’t be that successful. Great little round!
