Q:

Hi from the UK – Just need some Bobcat info

Hi folks,

from what I can see, Edgun seems to be the Bullpup of choice, followed closely by the Cricket…

However, the only dealer I could find in the UK that was importing the Cricket, hasn’t got them yet due to importing license issues…

And the only way I could get an Edgun, was to wire cash to Ed (which costs me with my bank), and sit clicking my fingers for a long while until it made it into the UK…

Sooooo, I opted for an FX Bobcat, ok, it’s ‘ugly’, ‘it’s not a real Bullpup’, I get it, but this is the UK, the gun is sub 12ft lb, so which ever one I got wouldn’t have made that much of a difference, except, if anything goes wrong with it, my firearms dealer is able to get it sorted and isn’t too far away – Unlike Ed or Cricket

I just wanted to know, if any of you have a Bobcat, does it come with the moderator or not?

There’s barely any info on them, even the FX website πŸ™„

Thank You

It’s 1cm diameter

Ouch ! πŸ˜†

I think out of the box with a 12ft lb air rifle, the bobcat groups are ok….

What power is your rifle again to give you these groups:-

Those are crappy groups for 25 yards…

Should be a single hole. πŸ˜‰

Howdy folks….

Anyway, I got my Bobcat in .22 (Sub 12ft lb) and I’m very pleased. Yes, it is a little heavy, but I can cope with that. As for looks, I like it…Maybe I’m easily pleased πŸ˜†

Anyway, I bought the Bobcat in .22 and a Weihrauch HW100KT in .177….

Out of the box after zeroing them in, these were the results….
First up, the Weihrauch HW100….

Next up, FX Bobcat .22….

Would I recommend the Bobcat .22 in sub 12ft lb, YES I BLOODY WOULD….

Oh, and for those of you who want to know if it comes with the moderator, no it doesn’t….

Which moderator fits it? – Apparently the FX Verminator MK2 moderator fits it….

However, the FX moderators aren’t supposed to be ‘all that’, so I’ve placed an order for a custom made moderator…..

Sometimes a trip to your friendly local Optician may be the way to correct a deteriorating eye-sight. Sometimes it´s too late. I´m afraid you belong to the second cathegory. Sorry-not even the modern science is able to offer any help to your lacking vision nor to your complete absence of taste. 😯

Hey maybe i have the shallow hal complex. I think they are a work of art, very elegant. :1:

Ted in Madison has a .22 Bobcat and now considers it his most accurate .22 which is saying something considering how accurate his .22 Edgun is,but it is a full power
version.I wouldn`t get an Edgun if I was planning on shooting it at 12ftlbs. gun was just not designed to shoot that low.regards, mark

Very wise words !! An EdGun doesnΒ΄t like pellet speed under 265 mps and thatΒ΄s waaayyy over 12 ft.lbs speed limit. The barrel shoots at its best above that – in fact mine was most accurate in 285-286 mps with 18gr Heavies. Ed didnΒ΄t design the barrel for slow speed.

That said the Bobcat is UGLY ! Shoots really well though and the trigger is way above that of both EdGun and Cricket . But itΒ΄s so ugly ….

Hello kurth,

I think you’re facing a difficult decision. Most people on this forum are in love with their edgun (as am i) so they will tell you to buy one. The thing is that there’s not alot of info on the bobcat yet. So i think its very difficult to compare the 2. Unless you have a licence you’ll have to get a 12 fp version. So far i have only seen 1. So it must be possible to get 1. This guy is an official dealer in holland and i think he used to send edguns to the uk as well (send him an e-mail and see what he thinks)
http://www.luchtbuks.com/luchtbuks/index.php?page=winkel.php&cat=1&sub=0 See in holland allot of people order their guns outside the country. The problem with that (we have very strict gunlaws) is that very often they get stuck at cutoms. Most people that work at cutoms dont know what their looking at and automaticly think, this must be dangerous, and getting your gun back from customs can be very hard (even if you are right). So i Always order my stuff at an official dealer.

But to awnser your question, i would get an edgun, but i dont have the data to support it, since there is very little known about the bobcat yet.

Brother Kurth;

You can directly contact with Eduard, go for his website and ask him your interesting Edgun, I am not sure for UK, but i think it will be the same for all Europe countries, 1,600 euro for all Matador versions also shipping included.

Have a safe shot…. Please keep us updated when you get your Bobcat in your hand πŸ˜‰

When somebody begins importing the Edgun into the UK, I will definitely buy one to add to my collection πŸ˜€

Actually Ed has set many EdGuns up to shoot 12ft-lbs for the UK and other areas with energy limits and they do just fine…

In fact mine at just under 18ft-lbs gets 150+ shots. I bet you could get another 100 to 150 if turned down to 12ft-lbs. πŸ˜‰

What we have yet to see on this forum is any Bobcats detuned to 12 ft-lbs…

I have a Bobcat on order. Should receive it this week. Will let you know what it’s like when its here.

Dear Kurth, I totally agree with Syn;

I cannot remember exactly where? or if i am not wrong i think believe it was Syn, i asked whether if some one shot with Edgun with sub 12ft-ibs, how many shots can be shot? he replied me almost 250 or more…. contact those who they own Edgun in UK….

Bobcat just as you mentioned is very ugly… and of course is not compact like Edgun or Cricket….

We just want the best for you brother…..

the .30 bobcat mousefart ? = No .. but its not crazy loud by no means. id say its borderline backyard friendly. i think that there is potention to quiet it down more though.

Hey Jamie! I heard without a shroud that things screams pretty loud. How is it with the shroud on? Mouse fart? Also what’s the total length with shroud.

quote dman1114:

I have a .30 bobcat shoots like a lazer beam. i would think the other calibers shoot just as well, plus the other calibers come with a power wheel so they can dial them down to a set speed. they should all come with a shroud.
